Influence of alloying elements on the solubility of titanium in magnesium alloys
Matocha, Martin ; Buchtík, Martin (referee) ; Březina, Matěj (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis examines the influence of alloying elements on the solubility of titanium in magnesium alloys. In the theoretical part, a literature review was conducted on the topics of the creation, composition, processing, and brief analysis possibilities of magnesium alloys, with an emphasis on the potential for alloying magnesium alloys with titanium. The experimental part focused on the preparation of systems with various compositions to achieve the integration of titanium into the magnesium alloy. After preparation of the samples of the given systems, their analysis was performed using SEM/EDS and XRD. Based on the ongoing results of the samples analysis, efforts were made to optimize the holding time of the samples of the given system at a temperature of 905°C. It was found that during the stabilization of the modification of titanium, it is possible to achieve mixing of titanium, zinc, and magnesium. The condition for the formation of the modification of titanium is the highest possible temperature allowed by the system. However, the temperature must exceed at least 881°C. The stability of the modification of titanium is also supported by the absence of alloying elements that promote the stability of the modification of titanium. The mixture of elements in the aforementioned system has not yet been described in the scientific literature.
Experimental testing of minimixer for waste water treatment
Luňák, Pavel ; Štefan, David (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with various ways of mixing mainly liquids. The theoretical part is devoted to the distribution of mixers, including a description of their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and applications. The experimental part is devoted to the measurement of minimixers, which were developed and manufactured V. Kaplan Department of Fluid Engineering. This section contains a proposal of measuring ciruit to determine the hydraulic characteristics of minimixers and the degree of mixing. The measurement results and their evaluation is summarized in the conclusion.

Földváry, István ; Broukal, Jakub (referee) ; Hájek, Jiří (advisor)
The main goal of this master’s thesis is to investigate the drawn down of floating particles in mechanically stirred vessels. The first part of the thesis summarizes necessary theory to cope with defined objectives of the thesis. The literature review of mixing reactors with floating particles can be found in this part of the work as well. The second part of the master’s thesis includes the preparation of the stirred tanks CFD model, simulation and comparing of experimental data from literature, as well.
Continual double-helicoidal mixer
Černý, Jan ; Malach, František (referee) ; Malášek, Jiří (advisor)
This work focuses on the process of mixing particulate materials and the design of the screw mixer for this activity. The theoretical part describes the mixing and properties of particulate matter. Subsequently, individual devices serving for different types of mixing are analyzed. The practical part contains calculations of the main dimensions and the required power consumption. The choice of suitable drive, bearings and gear is followed. Finally, the analysis of the blade shaft load and the strength analysis of the mixer blade using Autodesk Inventor are performed. Part of this work is enclosed drawing documentation of equipment assembly and selected partial components.
Heat insulating moulded refractory concretes
Bednárek, Jan ; Bartoníčková, Eva (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The thesis deals with the possibility of specific weight lowering of kaolin suspensions using air-entraining agents. These agents are usually used as concrete admixtures. The goal of the thesis is to verify an alternative possibility of creating porous structure in kaolin suspensions in order to prepare heat insulating moulded refractory concretes without using lightweight fillers. The effect of several air-entraining agents was compared, after that the dosage of agent and mixing conditions were optimized. The stabilization of prepared foams and practical application of selected agents were also part of the thesis.
Formation of microsuspension by perikinetic and orthokinetic koagulation
Fojtíková, Radka ; Mega, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dolejš, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on study of physico-chemical influences on model surface-water treatment which contain humic compounds. From those factors were monitored especially the dose of destabilizing reagent, pH value, temperature, velocity gradient of mixing and time of its duration. As destabilizing reagents were used Al2(SO4)3 .18H2O a Fe2(SO4)3 . 9H2O.
Design of Hand Blender
Kalenský, Ondřej ; Buganská, Tamara (referee) ; Sládek, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis deals with the design of ahand blender. The main problems it covers are designing with consideration to blind and old people, clear and natural control and more options for holding the device. The thesis discovers the essence of the process of blending and whisking. Based on this knowledge, the ambition behind the design of the product is to form anew shape which is in harmony with its function. The thesis is marginally focused on the theory of designing and developing anew product and it describes the practical usage of user-friendly design rules.
Design of optimal mixing of large-scale digesters
Bradáč, Antonín ; Bělohradský, Petr (referee) ; Zejda, Vojtěch (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is an optimal method of mixing of the digester with consideration to the uniform mixing of the whole volume, ensuring the quality process conditions for the anaerobic fermentation and the maximum yield and quality of the produced biogas. First chapters describe the basic design parameters, general calculations and the principles for design of individual types of mixers, supplemented by practical examples of mixing large capacity tanks. The work introduces the problem of sludge formation at the sewage treatment plant with an emphasis on sludge treatment and the processes which take place inside the fermenter. Various types of design of anaerobic sludge stabilization digester were introduced. Also ways of their operation, which are necessary for the quality of the fermentation, were presented. In the next chapters, various ways of mixing high-capacity digester tanks and experience from the operation of selected treatment plants were described. According to the theoretical research part of this thesis, several types of mixing equipment was designed for the experimental digestion tank built at the Institute of Process Engineering which is used for research work with mixers. Measurement of the selected pneumatic mixing method was performed on the experimental tank and the findings were evaluated.
Mixing and kneading machine
Kopáček, Petr ; Anderle, Martin (referee) ; Prokeš, František (advisor)
This diploma work deals with design of the mixing and kneading machine which works with heated mixed components. The components consist of PET, HDPE, silica sand and additives. First, there is introduced knowledge from accessible sources, which are concerned with the theme. Then follows projection of variants and selection of suitable solution. With the help of obtained konwledge and the chosen variant is performed design proces. In the end is created a concept assemble of the machine. The design proces includes projecting of the individual parts, strength verification of the basic elements and design of heating device.
Hydrodynamic mixing of water-ask mixture in vessel
Holub, Přemysl ; Franc, Zdeněk (referee) ; Habán, Vladimír (advisor)
Master´s thesis Hydrodynamic mixing of water-ash mixture in vessel is interested in describing fluid and solid particles flow in a vessel. The mixing was conducted in cylindrical vessel by a radial nozzle. The goal of the thesis is to describe flow field and places where the most of the particles are descending according to position, depth, flow rate and nozzle orientation in the vessel. An experiment was conducted in order to investigate and document 8 different positions and orientation of the nozzle. Significant changes in flow fields and mixing time were observed. A mathematical model of the vessel with the nozzle was created in Fluent program. Places with the lowest velocities according to the model were in good agreement with places where the most of the solid particles were descending.
