Always ready
Pavlíčková, Tereza ; Blažek, Martin (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
In the pursuit of an adaptable, accessible, and secure form of protection to safeguard citizens against unforeseen influences, the proposal addresses the inadequate capacities and coverage of shelters for the civilian population in the Czech Republic. Three examples, illustrating the integration of these structures into the existing urban fabric, also demonstrate their ability to change function depending on current conditions, needs, and the potential for adapting the structure to the site's context. Throughout the proposal, I drew upon analyses of existing civil defense shelters in the Czech Republic, which often serve solely as passive shelters, contrasting them with shelters worldwide that are not only utilised during crises but also function as fully functional multifunctional spaces in everyday life.
