Fourth-generation biofuels for jet engines
Marko, Adam ; Mišík, Ondrej (referee) ; Malý, Milan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the decarbonisation of air transport and the possible use of biofuels to power jet engines. As the use of the current fuel, kerosene, is time limited due to finite oil supplies, research and testing of its environmentally friendly successors is necessary. Equally important is the parallel development of compatible aviation and airport infrastructure, both in the form of airframes, engines and fuel systems and ground support equipment. In the event of a transition to a new type of aviation fuel, it is essential that it is technically advanced, affordable, environmentally sound, safe and has a wide supply chain. Currently, the scientific community is most focused on the use of sustainable aviation fuels SAF, hydrogen, ammonia, LNG and e-fuels. To qualify as a biofuel, the production process must be carbon neutral and the primary source of production must be renewable energy.
Energy yields per one hectare of land in the South Moravian Region
Plášek, Tomáš ; Bayer, Robert (referee) ; Jandová, Kristýna (advisor)
This bachelor thesis compares methods of producing elektricity in biogas plant, in thermal power plants by burning biomass, in solar power plants and compares it with production of energy of fuel cells and the energy from biofuels, like biodiesel and bioethanol. It compares the energy yields of different energy production methods and evaluates their advantages and disadvantages. It compares the energy content of these fuels by model vehicle range.
Fuels in 21. century
Lébl, Jan ; Svída, David (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is intent on introducing the overview of particular types of fuels used at present for ignition and diesel internal combustion engines. Marginally is mentioned the theme of fuels used for fuel cells. Further it deals with the composition of each fuel types and their characteristics and ecological aspects of their use. The ending of the thesis is aimed to formulation of the development trends in fuels and the prospects of each fuel type’s expansion in the future.
The potential of biofuels for modern internal combustion engines
Matyáš, Milan ; Bazala, Jiří (referee) ; Beran, Martin (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the potential use of biofuels for modern piston internal combustion engines. The thesis deals with both reducing the environmental impact and a possible increase in performance parameters and engine efficiency such as the use of fuel with increased anti-knock resistance in spark ignition engines.
Energy yields per one hectare of land in the South Moravian Region
Plášek, Tomáš ; Bayer, Robert (referee) ; Jandová, Kristýna (advisor)
This essay analysis problems of photovoltaic power plant operation and production of elektricity from biofuels. It also compares energy yields from different types of biofuels with yields of energy from solar panel. The essay also evaluates consumption of these fuels and efficiency of powering cars with combustion engine against electrical car.
Alternative Drive of Automobile
Novosád, Jan ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
In this work is processed a survey of perspective alternative drives in motor vehicles. There are main characteristic for each mentioned drive, their advantages and disadvantages and problems associated with their use in vehicles. The work is aimed at gas engines, electro mobiles, hybrid drives and hydrogen, therefore the most likely drives the future.
Bioetanol and Drive of Automobile
Smeták, Pavel ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
Content of my diploma thesis focuses on identification of properties and usability of nascent fuel for automotive use. It is a bio-ethanol which can be produced from renewable sources. The heart of this work is to develop methodology of experimental trials in connection with utilization of bio-ethanol E85 as a fuel for vehicle combustion engines. The aim is to perform tests with E85 and BA95 fuels in engine testing room of ÚADI FSI, to compare these trials amongst themselves and to analyze obtained results. Subsequent part of diploma thesis covers overview of general usage of bio-ethanol in road transportation.
Measurement of the properties of solid and liquid fuels (biofuels)
Horák, Jakub ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Moskalík, Jiří (advisor)
Nowadays there are large numbers of standard methods for measuring the properties of fuels. With the increasing number of new methods to an already confusing issue of measurement of fuel becomes even more confusing. This thesis therefore deals with the measurement of the energy properties of solid and liquid fuels (biofuels). The introduction is carried out searches of solid and liquid fuels (biofuels). Search is focused on the description of each type of fuel, their properties and adjustments to the final form suitable for combustion. The next part deals with the sampling of fuel, which divides the sampling and preparation of samples for laboratory testing. The last section describes the methods of measurement of selected energy fuel properties and selects appropriate methods. Methods of measurement of selected properties is then checked in the laboratory.
Synthetic fuels
Pitoňák, Adam ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis on the topic “Synthetic fuels” aims to introduce the reader to the issue of synthetic fuels and the possibilities of their application for internal combustion engines as alternatives to the conventional fuels derived from fossil sources. The first part of the work is focused on the introduction and division of synthetic fuels according to primary raw material. Subsequently, the properties of the fuels are compared with commonly used fossil fuels. The thesis also deals with the comparison of the equivalents of the emissions of individual synthetic fuels per unit of thermal energy supplied to the engine. Thanks to the model presented in the thesis, it is possible to compare the amount of CO2 equivalent per driven kilometre. The conclusion of this work summarizes the result of the comparison of synthetic fuels with prospects of such fuel in the future.
Industrial production of ethanol
Flajs, Roman ; Zichová, Miroslava (referee) ; Omelková, Jiřina (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with ethanol production for food and car industry. The aim of this work is to give a summary of different kinds of raw material especially lignocelluloses and microorganisms used for its processing and fermentation. The thesis focuses especially on technological process of ethanol production and the utilization of different materials for fuel production.
