Crystal and molecular structure study of garnets from selected localities of the České středohoří Mts.
Píšová, Barbora ; Skála, Roman (advisor) ; Laufek, František (referee)
Major and minor element contents of garnets from mantle peridotites and eclogites brought to the surface by volcanic rocks of the České středohoří Mts. were determined by an electron probe microanalyzer. Garnets are homogenous and their chemical composition corresponds to solid solution containing 65-71 % pyrope, other end members significantly present are almandine, uvarovite and grosulare. This method also help to discover polyphase inclusions chemically corresponding to amphiboles (pargasite, cummingtonite, magnesio-hornblende and katophorite). Next to amphiboles following minerals were found in inclusions: omphacite, carbonates, phlogopite, clinochlore, olivine, apatite, spinel group minerals, and sulfidic phases potentially close to pentlandite. Samples were also analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction. Qualitative phase analysis confirmed pyrope homogeneity. The refinement of crystal structure parameters was performed by the Rietveld method. Raman microspectroscopy showed shifts of individual bands in the Raman spectra compared to those of pure pyrope. Position of bands in spectra differs due to the substitution of Ca for Mg at the dodecahedral sites of the structure. Mutual positive correlations among elements Cr, Ca, Mg, Al, Si, Mn, Ti and Na were observed. Correlations were found also between...

Final Report of the Project „Data Acquisition from the Deep Horizons of the Rožná Mine“ presents the results of the study of rock mass properties with respect to the presence of a significant tectonic zone. The study focused on the change of properties in the vicinity of the so-called first zone of the Rožná deposit, but also on the change of these properties with a depth of 12–24. floor of the former mine, 550-1200 m below the surface. Realized works included geological, petrographic, geochemical description of the rock environment, geophysical work (esp. seismics), study of physico-mechanical properties of rocks, transport experiments and deposit revalidation of the Rožná deposit. All work was carried out for the purpose of describing the studied zone and its manifestation with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of the potential location of the deep geological repository.

This report summarizes the work and partial results made under the Public Procurement Obtaining Data from the deep horizons of the Rožná Mine in the first phase of the third and fourth subdivisions from February to November 2018. These are in particular technical works (boreholes, access to corridors),seismic measurements, sampling for laboratory analysis (physical-mechanical properties of rocks, breakage fills, bearing revalidation), structural characterization of the rockanalytical work on all samples taken. Parallel to these works3D models are being prepared, especially data preparation for modeling.

Realization project summarizes the planned work, its progress and continuity within the environment of Rožná I mine in the extent of the procurement „Získání dat z hlubokých horizontů dolu Rožná“ which is being compiled by Hluboké hluboké horizonty Rožná group. The final goal is to clarify the significance and spatial influence of major tectonic fault on surrounding rock mass. The results will help to clarify localization and safety issues of the potential deep underground repository, especially with respect to the Kraví hora locality.
Applications of experimental mineralogy to Te containing systems: Crystal structures, phase relations
Laufek, František ; Rieder, Milan (advisor) ; Palatinus, Lukáš (referee) ; Johan, Zdeněk (referee)
This dissertation contributes to the crystal chemistry of Te. The primary goals of the thesis are synthesis and crystal structure analysis of new Te-bearing ternary phases. The first part of the thesis shows significance of experimental mineralogy in research of Te containing systems. It briefly describes a novel approach to the study of new mineral species - the possibility of using synthetic analogues for their detailed mineralogical characterization. The results of the experimental mineralogical study in the Ni-Sb-Te ternary system at 400řC are reported in the second part. According to the performed experiments, two solid solutions λ1- Ni(Sb1-xTex)1+y (0<x<1, where 109.09.0 ≤≤⇒≥≈∀ yx ) and λ2 - NiSb1-xTe2x (0.28<x<0.66) dominate the system at 400řC. A characteristic feature of most phases present in the Ni-Sb-Te system at 400řC is apparent tendency to the Sb - Te substitution. The third part deals with the characterisation of the new mineral pašavaite Pd3Pb2Te2, which was found at the Noril'sk-Talnakh Ni-Cu camp, Russia. The synthetic Pd3Pb2Te2 phase was used for thorough mineralogical characterization of this new mineral species. Pašavaite displays orthorhombic symmetry, space group Pmmn. The structural identity between natural grains and synthetic Pd3Pb2Te was supported by the EBSD study. The...
