Residential Complex on the Red Hill in Brno
Lebánková, Simona ; Mléčka, Jan (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
This architectural project presents a comprehensive concept of a residential complex that responds to current needs and trends in the housing sector. The proposed four new apartment buildings become part of the extension of the housing stock in the locality of the cadastral area of Brno-Štýřice. Their siting and design have been carefully considered with regard to the urban environment and spatial conditions offered by this location. The project also includes the introduction of a new residential street type D1 and the construction of a living space, which contributes to the functionality and attractiveness of the whole complex. The supporting structure of the houses is designed with an emphasis on safety and stability, with the reinforced concrete frame providing a solid foundation for the entire structure. The architectural concept emphasises sustainability and quality of life for the residents. The artistic representation of the ensemble is inspired by the surrounding landscape and seeks to fit organically into the environment. The simplicity, modularity and minimalist aesthetics of the building contribute to a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. Overall, this project is designed with a vision to provide a modern and functional living space that meets not only current standards, but also the expectations of residents in today‘s urban environment.

Technological progress is transforming perhaps all aspects of human activity, not least the way we build. Criticism and reflection is therefore necessary. Optimisation of the unnecessary use of technology and simultaneous use of vernacular principles is one way to reduce the environmental impact. I am designing an apartment building near Zlin, which is based on the context of the place. In the area of the Malenovice sawmill, quality housing in the greenery is being created. The design of the apartment building integrates results of the contemplation of the material, making the most of natural ventilation and solar heat gains. Corner greenhouses are a specific element of the design, combining the benefits of a double facade and greenhouse effect, as well as centrally located ventilation chimneys. These elements contribute to improving the quality of space and have their thermodynamic justification. My goal was to design quality housing using truthfully admitted materials. Timberwork in the Czech Republic is still scarce. This project explores, among other things, the possibilities and limits of timber construction in the design of an apartment building.

The aim of the project is to use the potential of the site, to create a pleasant space for work and study and to offer an alternative to the existing public libraries. The project responds to the current perception of the function of libraries as places to meet, work and study, and seeks to provide an environment adapted to the needs of the younger productive population and university students in Brno. The project emphasises the provision of quiet working spaces, interactive study rooms and relaxation zones to meet the needs of users at different levels of concentration and relaxation.

The aim of the thesis is to design a residential building that will stand the test of time not only by maintaining its form and function but also by creating a landmark on the line between Otrokovice and Zlín. The main theme of the design is therefore the longevity of the building. The proposed house is located on the outskirts of Zlín - Malenovice on a plot where a sawmill currently operates. The longevity of the building is achieved in three different dimensions - technical lifespan, economic lifespan, and in terms of lifestyle, fashion, and social situation. Key elements include a conservative building form and brick facades.

Children's libraries in the Czech and Slovak Republic are a mirror of education. The spaces are undersized, furnished with furniture and carpets to at least somewhat muffle children's screams. The question remains whether such furnishings are sufficient and whether a children's library should look and function differently. The project is being taken up by a new branch of the Jiří Mahen Municipal Library - the Children's Library. It is based on an understanding of child development, how children play and learn new things during their childhood - from birth to the age of 12. Children can create their own games and toys to play with in the library. Children will be able to make their own choices about how they spend their time in the library. Whether they will play individually according to their own ideas or become part of any workshop organised by the Jiří Mahen Library. In the project I define 3 basic typologies that make up the space, and these are part of the building's mass. The tower - it is the main vertical element, thanks to which children can move between several floors, but it is also a space hiding interactive elements and games. The Cave - is a smaller space that resembles a refuge or hiding place for children who want to hide and read, or just want to find their own corner. Tunnel - is the main horizontal element that connects the important points of the two main building volumes.

In my project, I am proposing a new design for the library of Moravian gallery, which works as a place where world of exhibited art, books and creation collide. I work with the concept of the library as a studio where the passive visitor of the library and gallery becomes an active participant in the creation and development of art. The library space includes, in addition to a free selection of books, a repository, and a small gallery, also art studios that build on the activities of the Moravian Gallery. The proposal is situated on the border of the historic city center of Brno on a corner plot located directly in the park.

The Červený kopec area represents a strategic location for the further development of Brno. The immense potential of the site lies in its high attractiveness due to the proximity to greenery along the Svratka River and surrounding forests, panoramic views of Brno, and its location on the outskirts of the Staré Brno. Currently, the area is sparsely populated, yet plans for its development are becoming increasingly frequent. The first step towards new construction could be the newly built long-term care hospital on the site of the historic one. This project responds to the potential of this location and aims to capitalize on its lucrative attributes. This abstract analyzes the potential and possibilities for the development of Červený kopec and proposes strategies for the effective use of this key urban area in the context of Brno's development.
Residential Complex on the Red Hill in Brno
Skálová, Jana Vojtěška ; Joja, Marie (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor‘s thesis is to design a residential complex on Red Hill in Brno. The design will take into account the trends of contemporary residential architecture and offer possible solutions to the current housing crisis. The site is located on the border of the densely built-up area of Štýřice and nature, and currently houses a garden colony. The design uses the form of cooperative housing, which is supported by a system of variable layouts of individual apartment buildings and villas. This gives future residents the opportunity to intervene in the construction and configure the house according to their own ideas. The houses utilize the sloping terrain by being embedded into the ground. The entire complex is connected by a park with a retention pond, a children‘s playground, a workout, a community garden, and a lookout tower. The residential function of the complex is complemented by a multifunctional building with a café and rental spaces. The design reflects the vision of future living based on flexible layouts, sustainability, and support for diversity.
