Cultural legacy of Jan Palach's act and it's didactic processing

The thesis deals with the cultural legacy of Jan Palach in song and poetry texts of the 20th and 21st century. The author of the thesis aims to present the use of these texts in teaching, which deals with (historical) topics that provoke intense and often contradictory emotional reactions - here, demonstrative suicide for the awakening of society. In the first part, she draws a brief insight into the life of Jan Palach and the events that preceded his act, and describes Palach's self-immolation itself as a demonstrative act. It also includes a philosophical and theological perspective on Palach's sacrifice. For the purposes of the lesson, the writer interprets the collected texts, thus contributing to the limited amount of scholarly Czech literature on the depiction of the act in song and poetry. In the second part of the thesis, she then uses these texts in the teaching unit design for use in history, Czech language, civics or music classes. Together with the lesson, she presents further uses of the collected material. The paper shows theresults of a pilot lesson in the seventhyear of an eight- year grammar school, including comments from the participating pupils. Vladimír Tesař, M.D., Dr.Sc., MBA, FASN The aim of this project is to contribute to the discussion about introducing the methods of molecular biology into the routine blood donor testing in the transfusions departments in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part includes a brief history and some turning points in transfusion medicine. The next part within the theoretical section is dedicated to the problems of infectious diseases concerning transfusion and the general examination processes used during the selection of blood donors. The end of the theoretical part concentrates on existing possibilities of markers' examination of clinically important infections in blood donors, including the list of processes performed in the Czech Republic, the European Union and other countries. The practical part describes this study, ie. the routine screening test of blood donors using the CMIA method (a routine method) and using RT-Real Time PCR method (a molecular biology method) for detecting infectious markers (HCV, HBV, HIV). Methods of assisted reproductive technology and their use in selected European countries Abstract The objective of the presented study is to introduce methods of assisted reproductive technology (ART) and to evaluate the trends of their use in selected European countries between 2006 and 2012. The first part of the study is devoted to the theoretical introduction to the methods of assisted reproductive technology, factors influencing the effectiveness of the cycles ART and to give a comprehensive overview of law governing the conditions and availability of assisted reproductive technology. The second, analytical part of the study deals with the number of applied ART cycles, the number of embryos transferred and the proportion of live births after ART. Furthermore, the change of the age structure of women undergoing ART and the development of multiple births after ART. These selected indicators are first evaluated across the European region, using data from the reporting states of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). Finally, the results are compared to each of the five selected countries, specifically the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Slovenia and the United Kingdom.
