Gratitude and its relation to mindfulness
Chroustová, Eva ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Šípová, Ivana (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with gratitude, its interventions, and its possible overlap to mindfulness. In its literary-overview part, it thus seeks to capture gratitude in its situational and affective conception. Subsequently, it focuses on the presentation of different types of gratitude interventions, their possible benefits in terms of mental and physical health and their possible advantages. The last chapter of the theoretical part brings a brief introduction to mindfulness and summarizes what has been so far discovered in the joint research field of gratitude and mindfulness. The theoretical part is followed by an experiment which - by using placebo comparison - seeks to provide a closer look at gratitude interventions that are in the context of this research considered to be different degrees of experimental manipulation. The Gratitude Diary brings (in comparison to the Moments Diary in the active control group) an additional explicit focus on gratitude. The Fingers of Gratitude, which are considered to be an extension of the Gratitude Diary, bring moreover an explicit experiential focus and explicit mindfulness approach. However, the results of this research suggest that after practicing for two weeks, the experimental manipulation was not relevant in terms of life satisfaction, psychological...
Interindividual differences in emotion recognition
Chroustová, Eva ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Sedláček, Mojmír (referee)
The work deals with interindividual differences in emotion recognition, therefore it first introduces basic emotions, which is the concept used both by a number of studies and test methods looking into the ability to recognize emotions. Subsequently our attention focuses on emotion expressions, particularly the matter of their universality and function. The third chapter is devoted to emotion recognition itself, first to its importance and process and then to differences in this ability, which is the core of the work. What is known about it, however, is based on the traditional basic emotion method therefore the final chapter of the theoretical part aims at some difficulties of this method. The theoretical part is the basis for a design of the quantitative exploratory research whose aim is to look into the link between personality traits and the ability to recognize emotions. Keywords basic emotions, emotion recognition, interindividual difference
Josef Fanta and the Klatovy Town Hall
Chroustová, Eva ; Biegel, Richard (advisor) ; Prahl, Roman (referee)
The thesis deals with the Town Hall of Klatovy - specifically its reconstruction according to Josef Fanta's plans. The main aim of the thesis was to understand and describe the reasons for applying Neo-Renaissance as late as in the 1920s and also to find out how this belated choice was perceived. First the causes of the reconstruction are explained and then the causes why it was Fanta who was approached. Based on the sources the work documents other key personalities who played an important part in forming the new town hall. A separate chapter is dedicated to the aims they set and which led towards applying the Neo-Renaissance style. For better understanding of this choice both the history of the Town Hall of Klatovy and a wider context of Neo-Renaissance and town halls are introduced. A big part of the thesis deals with the then criticism which arose against Fanta's project (mainly in 1921) and which made it a topic connected not only with Klatovy. The reconstruction of the Town Hall of Klatovy thus became an illustrative example of the clash of the generations and their different attitudes towards monuments.
The iconographical program of the Jesuit church in Klatovy
Chroustová, Eva ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The church of The Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary and Saint Ignatius in Klatovy ranks among the most remarkable Baroque sights in southwestern Bohemia. Not only does it stand out with its unusual consecration, but also with its layout, which is inspired by the type Il Gesù to the greatest extent in comparison with other Jesuit churches in Bohemia. A lot of names of outstanding personalities (Carlo Lurago, Giovanni Domenico Orsi, Jan Hiebel, Theodor Moretus…) are connected with this church as well as the whole Jesuit complex. In my Bachelor's thesis I would like to focus on the iconographic programme of this church in the context of the Jesuit Order.
