Typical characters and motifs in Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay's fiction
Špicová, Zuzana ; Hříbek, Martin (advisor) ; Hons, Pavel (referee)
(in English): Śaratcandra Caṭṭopādhyāẏ is one of the most beloved Bengali authors, but has so far received only a very limited academic attention. The thesis briefly introduces the author's life and subsequently analyses his work using the terms and methods of contemporary narratology. Its primary goal is to contest traditional critical views of Śaratcandra as an overly emotional author for bored housewives. Śaratcandra intriguingly uses various literary devices (especially his narrators and focalisation) to enhance intimacy between the reader and the characters which finally leads to the reader's greater emotional involvement in the presented events. His usage of types of characters also innovatively combines ancient Indian types, real-life observations and western literary forms. The author juxtaposes characters in order to introduce a critique of social, religious and gender inequality, and to add an emotional argument to Īśvarcandra Vidyāsāgar's intellectual and legal endeavour. It is also possible to interpret Śaratcandra's work and the author himself - in contrast to Rabīndranāth Ṭhākur and Baṅkimcandra Caṭṭopādhyāẏ - as one of the most important modern descendants of the Mahābhārata tradition of Indian literature.

The thesis incorporates selected approaches that establish a multi-dimensional framework and its interactions. The critical geopolitical approach explains the political standpoints of former political leaders as well as preconditions of Partition. The New histories approach gives way to personal spoken historical testimonies of family members in both countries, that apply nationalised representations of Partition and family ties. Hons, Pavel ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
1 Abstract Title: EEG analysis of gait on an unstable surface Objectives: The aim of the thesis was comparison of changes of electrical activity of intercerebral brain structures using the programme sLORETA between 1) the state of rest and walk on slackline, 2) the state of rest and walk on groundline and 3) between the state of rest and projection of first-person virtual reality of walking on slackline; to find out which intracerebral areas are activated during these activities. Methods: 10 healthy participants took part in the test, 6 males and 4 females, between 18 and 30 years of age, 24 years of age on average. The experiment consisted of EEG gauging at rest with open/closed eyes (5 minutes each) and three other consequent parts in random order: 1. walk on slackline (2 minutes), 2. walk on groundline imitating walk on slackline (2 minutes), 3. watching a video with the first-person virtual reality projection of walking on slackline in basic position (2 minutes). During the whole experiment the brain activity was monitored and recorded by Wireless EEG Nicolet, EEG hat Waveguard Connect with 19 electrodes was used for collecting data by scalp EEG. The record was consequently assessed by sLORETA programme which created projection of active brain parts in 3D Talairach atlas. Results: Statistically...
