The Communication of Teachers in the Secondary Schools for Hearing impaired in Czech Republic

This diploma thesis deals, in a broader sense, with classroom interaction betwen students and history teachers at secondary schools for hearing impaired in the Czech Republic. In a narrower sense, it examines a pattern of teacher's language behaviour and his/her motivation when choosing relevant language means during his/her history classes. The work consists of two parts - theoretical specialized background, and practical research. The theoretical part gives an overview of the relevant specialized terminology used in the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as a short insight into the development of classroom interaction between a student and a teacher at special schools and pays attention to the developmental linguo-didactic aspects in the Czech schools for hearing impaired. The practical part uses qualitative research as a means of a research method. I have observed and filmed history classes at three secondary schools for hearing impaired. As my research interests laid within the above mentioned research technique, I did not assess teaching methodology of the teachers. I focused mainly on the form of teacher's communication. Adaptation of Czech Language Leaving Examination for the Deaf in Light Testing Czech Language as a Foreign Language

This diploma work focuses on Adaptation of Czech Language Leaving Examination for the Deaf, which deaf student in Czech republic pass as a part of the their Leaving Examination. As a background of this main theme examines also present situation in the research of reading literacy. In the main part of this work is this examination presented in detail and there are also presented the results of deaf students and some other statisticts information. Examples of test units and student's written works are attached too. The other part of this work describes examinations of Czech language as a foreign language and give some detail information about the most important exams. In conclusion, the author of this work is trying to explore the way how the deaf students language skills in other countries are examined in their Leaving Examination.

This diploma thesis deals with national assessment of language abilities of hearing impaired pupils at the ends of the primary and lower secondary schools. Based on the definition of the characteristics of the national assessment, the diploma thesis also focuses on an overview of currently used language tests, both at international level as well as it gives information about the practice in selected foreign education systems. Special attention is devoted to information that deal with the assessment of language abilities in the Czech Republic, and the form of participation of pupils with hearing impairement in such testing . The practical part is done by a research which was done to find out the views of those involved in the education of pupils with hearing disorders just the current assessment practice language skills of the pupils. In the final part of my diploma thesis is a possible outline for innovations for testing related to information from the preceding parts of my diploma thesis.
Leisure and interest activities pupils from school for hearing impaired pupils

7 Abstract In its theoretical part this bachelor thesis deals with the definition of leisure time and presents the most prestigious leisure institutions and organizations in the Czech Republic. It especially focuses on the specifics of leisure time of hearing-impaired children and youth. It briefly describes the range of leisure activities that are available at schools and hearing loss organization in several cities. In the practical part the questionnaire and survey data are analysed. Attention has also been paid to the difference between leisure time of surveyed boarding and non-boarding pupils. Services for deaf, hard of hearing and deafened students at universities in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis focuses on the means universities in the Czech Republic use to make studies accessible to students with hearing impairment (students who are deaf, hard of hearing and deafened). The thesis is a survey. The aim is to map the current extent of services (such as interpreting, visualisation, lecture/seminar recording) that support the students in their studies at particular public universities in connection with the contemporary legislation.

The helping articulation signs - Past and Present

This bachelor thesis applies to issues of helping articulation signs, which belong to phonemic system. For better notion how the helping articulation signs work are they given into opposition with other phonemic systems, like Cued Speech and Hand-Mund System. The helping articulation signs often occur with finger alphabet so in this thesis is a mention of this graphic system in opposition with helping articulation signs. Thereafter is a practical section of the thesis which is dedicated to a field research. The target of the research is to provide information about existence of the helping articulation signs at schools for students with a hearing impairment, about ways of working with them, about their contemporary forms and about their capturing in educational programs of single schools. At the end of this work comes to a summary of found information and their application to accessible information from literature sources.
Speech therapist's communication with a child

The text deals with the issues of speech therapist's communication with a child of preschool age. The text of the theoretical part of this bachelor thesis discusses the speech therapy as a branch of science, the term of impaired communication ability, dyslalia and its diagnostics, speech development of a child and child directed speech. Against the background of this information, the text of the practical part of the thesis devoted to the analysis of the speech therapist's communication with a child on the basis of the research. The text informs about the general organization of the hours of the speech therapy, which contributes to efficient work with the child. It also describes the different types of exercises and activities that the speech therapist performs with the child during the speech therapy. It emphasizes individual differences between the observed children. The text also seeks to analyze verbal and nonverbal communication of the speech therapist to note the different practices that the speech therapist used for efficient communication with the child. The identity of hard of hearing people

The bachelor thesis deals with identity of hard of hearing people. This thesis is based on the relevant scientific literature and is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The contents of the theoretical part are the identity and characteristics and clasification of elements affecting the identity of a person in general. The thesis focuses on identity formation of hard of hearing people in detail. The author also describes issues of subcultures, particularly the subculture of hard of hearing people. The practical part uses investigation to verify elements affecting hard of hearing people identity listed in the theoretical part. In the conclusion, the author summarizes the findings from both the investigation and the relevant scientific literature and formulates recommendations, which suggest way to minimize negative elements in the process of identity forming and support healthy identity development of a hard of hearing individual.
Speech therapy in Czech elementary schools for children (age 6 - 12) with hearing handicaps

The bachelor thesis focuses on the approaches to speech therapy practice at selected elementary schools (age 6-12) for children with hearing handicaps. Particular attention is given to the organisation scheme, the position of speech therapy in the school's educational concept and to the relation of speech therapy to various educational subjects. The introduction describes the relation of speech therapy to the upbringing and education of pupils with hearing handicaps. The second part gives details on the research at selected elementary schools for children with hearing handicaps and provides basic characteristics of these schools. The third part contains a summary of curricular documents which have affected the education of pupils with hearing handicaps during the past sixty years and which impacted, among other things, the practice and goals of speech therapy among these pupils. This part is closely related to the fourth part which focuses on the description of differences in the position of speech therapy in individual educational subjects in the past and the present. The final part compares the former and the current organisation of individual and collective speech therapy at schools for children with hearing handicaps.
