Belkina, Tatiana ; Kolář, Jozef (advisor) ; Špliňo, Miroslav (referee) ; Tesař, Tomáš (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Candidate Tatiana Belkina, MSc Supervisor doc. RNDr. Jozef Kolář, CSc. Title of Doctoral Thesis Non-prescribed antibiotic use in some developing countries and its association with drug resistance Background and Aims: The global emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance remain a major challenge to infection control and a predominant reason for therapy failure. Non-prescription access to antimicrobials is common, and self- prescribing is increasingly popular in a society with non-regulated access to antimicrobials. It is crucial to avoid self-medication in order to combat antimicrobial resistance. This research need has been addressed within 4 scientific projects with the following aims: P1: We examined knowledge, attitude and practices of antibiotic use in 3 Asian countries and estimated the frequency and reasons for self- medication. P2: This study aimed to evaluate the extent of delay in diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis in Uzbekistan and identify associated risk factors. P3: To evaluate knowledge of antibiotics, race, gender and age as independent risk factors for self-medication. P4: The aim of this study was to assess the attitudes of community pharmacists regarding antibiotic use...

Kočí, Michal ; Kolář, Jozef (advisor) ; Kotlářová, Jana (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Candidate Mgr. Michal Kočí Consultant doc. RNDr. Jozef Kolář, CSc. Title of Thesis Hospital Drug Formularies in the Czech Republic Drug formularies have been used for more than 50 years. Their importance in the hospital sector is increasing as more and more therapeutic alternatives arise and the drug-costs grow as well. Hospital drug formulary system is one of the most widely used mechanisms hospitals use to optimise their drug policy. The goal of the thesis was to evaluate the usage of the system on the sample of the Czech hospitals and to offer potential improve-ment. The starting point was to compile the current knowledge on the hospital drug formulary usage. The questionnaire based on the found data was designed to obtain the information on drug formulary system usage in the particular hospital. Then the questionnaire was sent to various Czech hospitals; at the same time, the questionnaire (translated into English) was sent to a German university hospital. By analyzing the obtained data a summary on up-to-date state of hospital drug formulary usage in the Czech Republic was produced. The principal result is that out of thirteen hospitals that sent the required information back, three...

Karageorgiou, Eleftheria ; Kolář, Jozef (advisor) ; Kotlářová, Jana (referee)
Pharmaceutical Care-Pharmaceutical Services and the European Surrounding Karageorgiou E., Kolář J. Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic e-mail: karageoe@faf.cuni.cz The political line of the health systems in EU is patients oriented and demands increased rates of training and well understanding of pharmaceutical services and pharmaceutical care, either in hospital pharmacies or in community pharmacies. Almost half of the annual pharmaceutical expenses accrued by the so called expensive drugs special category. Almost half of the annual turnover of community pharmacies is of the OTCs and the negative list of medicines. So examine the aspects of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within deepened economic crisis in Greece in order to find professional solutions for the near future as well as by means of survival. We deal with European surrounding and the present situation in basic education and continual training of community pharmacies in Greece taking into account the assumption that community pharmacies are part of the primary health care. We trace the real needs of well-trained community pharmacists to improve value for both the benefit of patients and the Health Care System. It is the outcome of collaboration...

Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Training Workplace Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Doctoral Degree Program Clinical and Social Pharmacy Candidate Mgr. Simona Dvořáčková Supervisor doc. RNDr. Jozef Kolář, CSc. Advisor doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Title of Doctoral Thesis The aspects influencing the therapeutic value of anticoagulants in the Czech Republic Background and aim: Anticoagulants prevent the onset or maintaining of thromboembolic (TE) diseases. Both long-term used drugs, the disadvantages of which may limit treatment, and newer ones, the benefits of which may be limited by shorter clinical experience, are currently approved. Drug utilization may be an important indicator of trends in drug use, as well as pharmacovigilance surveillance and the benefits and risks assessment in clinical practice. Research related to the evaluation of the therapeutic value of anticoagulants and the factors influencing their use in clinical practice contribute to safer pharmacotherapy, therefore the aims of this thesis were: 1) to analyze the drug utilization of parenteral and oral anticoagulants (OACs) in the Czech Republic (CR) between the years 2007-2020; 2) to evaluate the numbers and characteristics of spontaneously reported suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs)...

Barbora Košťálová Title of thesis: CONSENSUS OF CZECH TERMINOLOGY IN THE FIELD OF MEDICATION ADHERENCE BACKGROUND: The terminology of medication adherence has undergone a vast change over the last 50 years. Analysis of drug utilization of antibiotics for systematic administration in the Czech Republic in 2005-2019
Suchopárová, Lenka ; Malý, Josef (advisor) ; Kolář, Jozef (referee)
Analysis of drug utilization of antibiotics for systematic administration in the Czech Republic in 2005-2019 Author: Lenka Suchopárová Tutor: doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: Mgr. Petr Domecký Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles university Introduction and aims: Antibiotics (ATB) are substances with a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect. Treatment with ATB carries a risk of side effects, drug interactions and risk of resistance occurence. The reason for monitoring the consumption of ATB is not only the apparent coherence between their consumption and the increase of resistance, but also the economic side of bacterial infections treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze the consumption of ATB for systematic administration in the Czech Republic (CR) in 2005-2019. Methods: The analysis of the consumption of ATB was performed as a retrospective analysis of data from the database of the State Institute of Drug Control in the period from 1. 1. 2005 to 31. 12. 2019. Anatomical-therapeutic-chemical classification based on defined daily doses (DDD) of individual drugs was used for the analysis. The consumption of ATB was calculated as DDD per thousand inhabitants per day (TID). The data on the number of residents was acquired from the...
