The Artistic Contribution of the Musical Component of Libuše Kurková's Pedagogical Work in the System of Music and Movement Education ABSTRACT The dissertation The Artistic Contribution of the Musical Component of Libuše Kurková's Pedagogical Work in the System of Music and Movement Education is a musical theoretical and musical pedagogical reflection, dealing first of all with the compositions by contemporary Czech authors linked with Libuše Kurková's choreographies. It is a musical component of movement games, dance choreographies, book publications and methodical manuals, radio programs for children, artistic documents, etc. It highlights the typical features of Libuše Kurková's pedagogical work, its novelty and its originality. It shows that she was ahead of her time, anticipating current musical pedagogical theories and conclusions from the research in the relation between music and movement. The dissertation brings the musical analysis of Zdeněk Lukáš's unpublished manuscripts. Of course, it also focuses on published compositions of the whole musical component of Libuše Kurková's work (P. Eben, Z. Lukáš, J. N. Music Perception Projects in Pre-School Education

The aim of this thesis is to verify the effectiveness of children's listening activities in the preschool period from five to six years of age, to introduce the utilization of methodology connected with listening to the music by Jaroslav Herden in terms of preschool education, and to demonstrate the importance of motivation and integrative activities for the development of attention together with the overall harmonious development of children. In the theoretical part, I analyse the input of music into the consciousness of children in terms of basic psychological features and functions which are important for perception. I introduce basic musical abilities, particularly musical creativity and imagination. The theoretical part is concluded with the clarification of basic means of expression and shape features, which are important not only for the music perception as such, but also the music perception in an ontogenetic context. Moreover, I also present the philosophy of educational thinking concerning the listening activities proposed by Professor Jaroslav Herden. In the practical part, I introduce a comprehensive authorial project involving the methodology of Jaroslav Herden's music tailored to children who are aged from five to six years. Development of musical imagination of pre-school children during their musical activities

The theoretical starting point of the thesis focuses on the contemporary concept of the development of personality and musical preschool values. It brings closer the psychological and physiological mechanisms of the connections between musicality, personality structures and dynamics in the ontogenetic development of the child before its entry into elementary school. It aims from the field of musicality into the essence of musical imagination and ideas shaping the association. In the practical part a partial deduction of the theoretical background down to the methodological level is carried out. It deals about eroding the syncretic perception in the context of changes in abstraction from the illustrative factuality, (eg. the characters, colors) to non-illustrative factuality (music notes, graphic signs rhythmic articulation and movement melodies). Timbre and Phonemic of Pre-school Children

This thesis deals with the timbre and phonemic hearing concerning kids with normal language development. It contains two main sections presenting a theoretical outline and a practical research part. The theory discussed opens the question of the phonemic and timbre hearing development with the preschool kids. I am considering current and previous educational materials familiarizing the reader with the timbre and phonemic hearing regarding the preschool kids. The practical part describes the objectives, methods, process and the results of the basic field research that checks the level of timbre and phonemic hearing at preschool children with normal speech development. The aim of this work is to establish a link between phonemic and timbre hearing. Music as a Significant Means for Speech Cultivation in Pre-School Children

This dissertation of an interdisciplinary character involves music education, music psychology, linguistics and special education. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author explains the term timbre from the musicological and linguistic perspective; characterizes timbre hearing as a musical hearing ability; introduces and compares timbre and phonemic hearing tests; describes the development of musicality and speech of pre-school children from an ontogenetic perspective, and emphasizes hearing atten- tion as a prerequisite for their advancement. The author also characterizes disruption of these abilities and describes reeducation therapies that involve elements of music education and mu- sic therapy. A field study described in the practical part of the thesis has a form of fundamental research and experiment. Research participants were 180 pre-school children. A field study is addressing the relationship between speech and musical manifestations of pre-school children with atypi- cal speech development. The aim of the experiment was to search for the most effective com- bination of music and language education with positive influence on both musicality and speech.
