Regulace receptorů spřažených s G proteiny Studie muskarinových a β-adrenergních receptorů u M2KO myší
Beneš, Jan ; Mysliveček, Jaromír (advisor) ; Kuncová, Jitka (referee) ; Nováková, Marie (referee)
(in English): The aim of the work was to perform in-depth analysis of M2KO mice both at baseline and upon a challenge with a cold stress and to explore the role of opposing receptors (i.e. adrenoceptors) in adaptation to lacking M2-receptors in the heart. We have performed receptor binding studies, study of receptor gene expression, echocardiography, telemetric monitoring of heart rate, body temperature and activity, heart rate variability and biorhythm analysis, analysis of heart rate response to the application of drugs (carbachol, atropine, isoprenaline, propranolol), assessment of adenylyl cyclase and NO synthase activity, measurement of catecholamine blood concentration and gene expression of catecholamine-synthesizing enzymes. We have found that the disruption of M2-receptor gene caused a compensatory decrease of cardiostimulatory β1-adrenoceptors and β2-adrenoceptors with corresponding down-regulation of the gene expression, M3-receptors were down-regulated as well. Missing M2-receptors were functionally replaced by the main cardioinhibitory β3-adrenoceptors that were up-regulated, not by cardioinhibitory M4-receptors. β3-adrenoceptors were found to signal through adenylyl cyclase instead of NO synthase. All these changes were found in the left ventricle only, so heterologous regulation is...
A Colour Matching Application for Mobile Devices
Zikmund, Martin ; Wilkie, Alexander (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee)
A mobile application that provides matching functionality between different industrially used colour atlases is presented. The focus of the application is not accurate display of the colours in the atlases, although this is attempted to within the limits of mobile device display technology. Rather, for a given entry into one particular colour atlas, an easy and intuitive way of choosing the closest possible colour from some other colour system is provided. This sort of functionality, which is not available elsewhere, is based on spectral measurements of several thousand colour atlas samples that are available to the app developer. This unique dataset makes such an application possible, which has the potential to be a highly useful niche tool for designers who work with such industrial colour atlas systems. Sverge - A Flexible Tool for Comparing & Merging
Švec, Ondřej ; Ježek, Pavel (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee)
2 Title: Sverge - A Flexible Tool for Comparing & Merging Author: Ondřej Švec (sverge@svecon.cz) Department: Department of Distributed and Dependable Systems Supervisor of the bachelor thesis: Mgr. Pavel Ježek, Ph.D., Department of Distributed and Dependable Systems (jezek@d3s.mff.cuni.cz) Abstract: Developers, who work on larger projects, are using revision control systems, which usually does not have a built-in tool for visualising differences between directories and individual files or they only offer a console interface. Even though there are numerous tools for visualising the differences, none of these tools are modular, so that a visualisation for a different file types can be added. A tool called Sverge that is modular and pluginable was created, it can visualise differences between directories and text files by default and more visualisations can easily be added. The tool was created using C# programming language, it can natively run on Microsoft Windows operating system and it can easily be integrated with popular revision control systems. Keywords: visualisation, differences, 2-way, 3-way, files, directories, modular, extensible
Transformation of the US counterinsurgency doctrine in its clash with the global Islamist insurgency
Beneš, Jan ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bureš, Oldřich (referee)
Transformation of the US counterinsurgency doctrine in its clash with the global Islamist insurgency The September 11 attacks pointed to the emergence of the new threat for the US. Terrorist, who stood behind the attacks were not an isolated group, but belonged to the large variety of groups, movements and organizations, which David Kilcullen described as global insurgency. United States clashed with this insurgency within the Global war on terrorism, mainly on the battlefields in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Thesis Transformation of the US counterinsurgency doctrine in its clash with the global Islamist insurgency examines how US reacted to this clash. The aim of the thesis is to capture the transformation of American way of waging war against terrorism during the combat with global insurgency. The research is divided into the three levels: political-ideological, military-strategic and operational-tactical. There are key factors determined at every level and their transformation in the period between 2001 and 2011 is being observed. Every level is set into the context of the struggle against global insurgency and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The emphasis is placed on the interaction and mutual impact of the factors. Author of the Thesis first conceptualizes every level of research as well as...
Procedural modelling of buildings
Rosa, Michal ; Beneš, Jan (advisor) ; Kahoun, Martin (referee)
In this thesis we focus on implementation of a standalone application for procedural modelling of buildings. We are then testing our implementation by modelling several buildings based on buildings in real life. Apart from our implementation, we are providing a short overview into already existing methods. This thesis also includes programming and user documentation. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Creation, alteration and termination of easements
Beneš, Jan ; Švestka, Jiří (advisor) ; Salač, Josef (referee)
A B S T R A C T The subject matter of this work is the creation, alteration and termination of easements. The work discusses the general as well as the theoretical issues of the creation, alteration and termination of easements and analytically particular types of the creation or termination of easements and also the consequences of plurality of rights arising out of easements. The doctoral thesis is based on effective legal provisions, i.e. on the Act No. 40/1964 Coll., as amended, on contemporary legal literature and courts' decisions and also on available historical legal literature, i.e. from the time of effectiveness of the General Civil Code. The work does not avoid criticism of published or judicial conclusions or providing its own conclusions and points of view.
On the implementation of the spelling reform in Austria: A research based on Language Management Theory
Beneš, Jan ; Dovalil, Vít (advisor) ; Blahak, Boris (referee)
This sociolinguistic diploma thesis focuses on the implementation of spelling reform in Austria. Practical research is based on the theory of language management. The thesis describes also developmental path to the spelling reform through the entire 20th century. The work aims to shed light on the issues and barriers associated with the implementation of spelling reform, i.e. the last phase of language management. Regarding methodology, it was conducted qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with participants in the process. Representatives of secondary schools and newspapers were chosen for the research. The obtained data is analyzed in comparison with the discourse concerning the spelling reform in the German-speaking area. Keywords Language management, language planning, spelling reform, Austria, secondary education, print media
Rychlá implementace procedurálních 3D textur
Frívaldský, Dalibor ; Křivánek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee)
Procedurally generated noise textures play a key part in the world of computer graphics. However, their computation is very time consuming. Generating noise for rendering of photo-realistic scenes may require large amount of hardware resources. Efficient use of these resources is beneficial in the trend of ever-increasing amount of details in the rendered scenes. In this thesis we develop a series of optimized algorithms for the popular Improved Perlin noise and the new Gabor noise. We will employ SIMD features of the modern generation of general purpose processors to achieve efficient use of hardware resources. These algorithms will be integrated into the MentalRay ray-tracing rendering engine and their effectiveness demonstrated in various scenes. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Procedurální generování měst
Beneš, Jan ; Wilkie, Alexander (advisor) ; Křivánek, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis proposes a novel method for procedural generation of urban street networks. A simple traffic simulation, based on observations made about the social-geographic nature of cities, that is able to drive the temporal evolution of city road networks by creating new major roads, as well as a modified generation algorithm for minor roads, are described. The presented method is highly automated.
