Jírovcová, Anna ; Messiereur, Petr (advisor) ; Messiereur, Petr (advisor) ; Tomášek, Jiří (referee) ; Pazdera, Jindřich (referee)
This work is concerned with the life and the artistic work of the Czech violinist and conductor Josef Vlach. He was born on 8th June, in Ratměřice in central Bohemia, into the family of a butcher and amateur musician. His father and his brother were also his first music teacher. he nerolled for a course at the Prague Conservatory in 1938, to study with St. Novák , J. Micka and J. Šlajs. From 1946 - 48 he was asistent leader in the Czech Chamber Orchestra of V. Talich. Following the politically - motivated ouster of V. Talich from the orchestra's top post, the ensemble voluntarily disbanded. In 1947 Vlach completed his conservatory studies and pursued his schooling at the Prague Academy of Music, with J.Feld and J.Pekelský. In 1950 he formed Vlach Quartet, before long scoring major thriumphs at home internationally - including notably first price from the quartet competition of Liege, Belgium , in 1955. In the course of its existence, the ensemble was a regular recording studio feature ( over 160 titles), and until the termination of its work in 1976 appeared on the world's foremost concert platforms . In 1957 J.Vlach re-launched the Czech Chamber Orchestra, whose formidable artistic standard soon earned it invitations to prestigious festivals ( Osaka, Salzburg and others) and concert halls of several contonents, as well as collaboration with an impressive gallery off prominent soloists ( J.Suk, H.szeryng, L.Kogan, I.Moravec) In 1963 J.Vlach made his conducting debut with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra . From 1968 he devoted part of his time to teaching at the Prague Academy of Music. In 1981 he took over as artistic director of the Suk Chamber Orchestra, and st the same time he began to work with the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic. He died on 17th October, 1988 ,in Swedwn, a country which became his second homeland , and where he had frequently performed and imparted his skills and knowledge as a teacher..

Mikeš, Jan ; Tomášek, Jiří (advisor) ; Tomášek, Jiří (advisor) ; Štraus, Ivan (referee) ; Pazdera, Jindřich (referee)
Second string quartet was written in the highest creative period of Janáček´s output. It was written 1928 few month before composer´s death. It describes feelings and passion of love to Kamila Stösslová ( Janáček´s gerlfriend). First interpret of this work was The Maravian quartet.Second string quartet belongs to the best of works of 20. century written for string quartet. It accomplishes principles of modality, folk elements, tectonic etc.It wasn´t published until 1938. Smetana, Janáček and Vlach quartets are our chief ensembles. We can admire their interpretative art from fifties of 20.century. My work also compares recordings of Smetana quartet from 1976, vlach quartet from 1969 and Janáček quartet from 1963.These recordings are demonstrations of high interpretative art of our prominent quartet ensembles. Smetana quartet stand out at excellent interplay, tuning, intonation, sence for whole buiding of phrases, Janáček quartet at compactness of the sound, elaborations of details, long sites and Vlach quartet at accomplished sensibility for colours of sound and mood.

My bachelor thesis about Fritz Kreisler is divided into four chapters.First chapter brings Kreisler's biography, includes his childhood, first steps in his violin playing, his personal life and his twilight. In second chapter im trying to explaine Kreisler's music personality, his violin style and his interpretation. Especially his opinions about violin practicing are extremely interesting.Third chapter talks about Fritz Kreisler as a composer.Im trying to bring an explanation about works from his " Klasische manuskripte".Last chapter is dedicaded to his book "The war story of a violinist". Kreisler describes there his memories from the war. This book says maybe nothing about music, however, it is very important and very emotional part of his life.

Slimáková, Zuzana ; Pazdera, Jindřich (advisor) ; Pazdera, Jindřich (advisor) ; Tomášek, Jiří (referee) ; Štraus, Ivan (referee)
in my bachelor´s diploma thesis I write about pieces, which W.A.Mozart wrote for violin. In first chapter I mention relationship between Mozart and violin, his start in understanding this string instrument, then we go to a brief opening about Mozartś life and afterwards we shortly go over the chronologic succession of some of his pieces of music. His work with the use of violin is immense, so in the two following chapters I restricted this range only to several pieces, namely, violin concerts and several violin sonatas with piano.

History of the Prague Symphony Orchestra and it´s representative concertmasters
Vrabcová, Monika ; Štraus, Ivan (advisor) ; Štraus, Ivan (advisor) ; Tomášek, Jiří (referee) ; Pazdera, Jindřich (referee)
FOK. The notion which have marked the awareness of concert visitors, record collectors or even cinema lovers with an indelible trace in the decades of its existence... A Cinderella who, due to admirable human efforts, passed through necessary imperfections of early youth, turbulent growing up, melancholy of middle age, betrayals of fate and passions of society, and blossomed into mature and spiritual beauty. The ensemble, originally created as a last resort for unemployed musicians, have managed to gain respect on an international scale in the course of time and it united a whole range of the most renowned conductors and soloist names with the memory of cooperation. As a loyal companion of Prague, it has kept being sucked into the vortex of the city's history, celebrating triumphs, being shaken by downfalls, it has been tempered by fate itself as well as it has tempered with the fates of others, it has always represented an enticing challenge for many biographers. It is, therefore, a major theme of the whole range of already published writings. In the area of biographical data described so much in detail, one can hardly produce new, so far unknown information. Nevertheless, I think that a view from the inside, through the optics of my own interpretative experience as an deputy concertmaster, could enrich the available literature by many observations, however subjective they may necessarily be. The study describes the winding paths of fate, along which the orchestra's history has passed in the course of long years. It illuminates the ambience of pioneer beginnings, the formation of the ensemble under almost garage conditions, it maps out the ?Golden Age?, when favourable circumstances brought the best opportunities for artistic development and for an establishment of our reputation both on the domestic and international scenes. It mentiones in greater detail 3 significant organiser and conductor personalities: Dr. Rudolf Pekárek, Dr. Václav Smetáček and Jiří Bělohlávek, whose contributions were fundamental to the orchestra's development. In the chapter ?foreign concert tours?, readers will learn about the almost ridiculous influence of political pressures of the communist powers-that-be on the form of guest performances abroad and on the comfort of the musicians. The central points of the work are sections dealing with concertmasters. Some of the personalities, who held this post in the orchestra in the past, reminiscence in an interesting way about their activity in the orchestra FOK and they give us their own opinion about the ideal of a concertmaster. Through the words of his widow, Mrs. Míla Smetáčková, even the legendary chief conductor Václav Smetáček comes to express his opinion; the FOK was his fate for the whole 30 years. The conclusion of the work reveals partly the contemporary situation while anticipating the future and mentions extraordinary dramaturgical and marketing ideas, which help the orchestra to face the adversities of the present age, unkind to its own culture.

Louis Spohr
Hložková, Hana ; Pazdera, Jindřich (advisor) ; Pazdera, Jindřich (advisor) ; Snítil, Václav (referee) ; Štraus, Ivan (referee)
In 2004 I have participated in " Louis Spohr" Competition in Weimar, which inspired me in choice of the theme for my thesis. Compositions of Louis Spohr are seldom played in our country, and it´s also difficult to find huis name in Czech books. Nevertheless, Louis Spohr gave a lot of new and practical to musicians. He helped to conductors and orchestra with numbers in the score for better orientation and to violinists with a chinrest and new numbering of positions, which is used until today.
