Title: Assessing the importance of stretching among women floorball players and its impact on shortened muscles Objectives: The main goal of the diploma thesis was to determine the functional state of the muscular system and the rate of shortened muscles in a selected group of women in the age range from 18 to 34 years old in the floorball club Banes Florbal Soběslav playing the 1st woman's league. Based on the examination, a set of specific stretching exercises was created and subsequently their effect was verified. The partial goal was to find out the level of stretching before and after the training unit or match using an online questionnaire for players playing in the 1st woman's league. Methods: The diploma thesis was processed as an experimental study. The research involved 16 probands who have been actively involved in floorball for at least 5 years. The research group was equally divided into experimental and contol groups. To obtain the data, a standardized test of shortened muscles according to Janda and palpation examination of trigger points were used. Entrance and exit tests of both groups were performed at intervals of 3 months. During this period the experimental group completed an intervention program. There was no intervention in the control group. An online questionnaire sent via...
Changes of trunk mobility in relation to postural stability
Kocourková, Monika ; Šorfová, Monika (advisor) ; Vláčilová, Ivana (referee)
Title: Changes of trunk mobility in relation to postural stability Objectives: The main aim of this work was to quantitatively observe segmental trunk mobility in 3D space during flexion of arm and create coupled pattern phenomena of particular spine segments. Additional aim was to verify the effect of modification of the measurements on movement performance and to relate the given movement of the arm and the segmental trunk mobility to changes in the load of the lower extremities. Methods: The measurement itself was performed on 23 asymptomatic males aged 20 - 30. In 3 modifications of the motion measurement - no load, with load and with load and hold with arm forward, probands performed 5 repetitions of right arm flexion in the sagittal plane. The motion was scanned by system Qualisys markers while standing on 2 Kistler stabilometric platforms. Results: In most probands, the segmental movement of the spine was repeatable. It was possible to compare it between probands and create coupled pattern phenomena of the spine. The increased arm load and hold with arm forward caused an increase in the deflections of the particular spine segments in sagittal plane. Furthermore, the increase in load has led to demonstrably greater load changes in the lower extremities. The link between the segmental trunk...

Title: Effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation on strengthening of deep neck flexors in patients with cervicogenic headache Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to investigate the effectiveness of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation on relieving or reduction headaches in patients diagnosed with cervicogenic headache. Methods: This is a pilot study involving 10 patients diagnosed with cervicogenic headache in the age range of 23-41 years. Patients participated in proprioceptive neuromuscular head and neck therapy, which took place 3 times per week for 5 weeks. Patients on the first and last therapy completed the Neck Disability Index, the measurements were done twice a week. It was a measurement of performance index of deep neck flexors by means of a craniocervical flexion test and evaluation of pain on visual analogue scales. The statistical method - paired t-test was used to analyze the obtained data. Results: The results of this thesis show that proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation therapy is effective in elimination or reduction of headaches in patients diagnosed with cervicogenic headache. Keywords: cervicogenic headache, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, craniocervical flexion test, Neck Disability Index, physiotherapy
Acquired flatfoot in adults
Khadura, Mohamed ; Vláčilová, Ivana (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: Acquired flatfoot in adults Background: Flatfoot deformity is one of the common diagnoses in the orthopedic field and physiotherapy, its common in adults as acquired, there is still a large incidence of flatfoot in adolescence and many cases of adult flatfoot are frequently presented as residual pediatric flatfoot. The treatment also has wide field according to type of cause. Aims: The aim of this literature review was to enhance knowledge on the persistence of the acquired flatfoot condition in adult's population by determining the causes of flatfoot with contributing factors that affect the medial longitudinal arch and progression of the deformity, and review of the most common treatment. Method: An electronic database search was conducted to obtain articles from relevant journals (from early 1990 to end 2015). The information was collected also from textbooks. Results: Regarding the causes of acquired flatfoot in adult, a good base of evidence stems from a number of articles review, the posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction is the most cause of acquired flatfoot. The sensory motor stimulation technique is not the most treatment used to treat acquired flatfoot in adults and the most used treatment is the surgical procedure. Conclusion: Regarding the causes of adults acquired flatfoot in...
Changes in handgrip strength in relation to laterality at indoor youth climbing course
Janatová, Klára ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Vláčilová, Ivana (referee)
Title: Changes in handgrip strength in relation to laterality at indoor youth climbing course Objectives: The aim of this diploma theses is to investigate whether regular climbing activity of children at age 7-11 leads to development of handgrip stength or its endurance with respect to laterality. Also if climbing leads to symetrical strenghtening of upper limbs. Methods: Group of 14 children at age 7-11 participated in a climbing course once a week for 3 months. Maximal grip strength was measured, persistence in pressing hand over 30 seconds and evaluation of laterality. First testing was done in October 2016 and second after 3 months in January 2017. Results: The research involved 13 right-handed and 1 left-handed participant and degree of laterality remained unchanged. Grip strength of dominant upper limb was stronger in 10 children from 13 (October 2016 - first measuring) at the first measurement. Our results suggest that climbing activities for three months, according to statistical analysis (t-test Microsoft Excel 2010), may contribute to the symetrical strengthening of upper limbs in 88%. We have discovered two types development phenomena - visualised as 2 distinct curves that show the development of strength in 30 seconds. Gantar, Sebastjan ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Vláčilová, Ivana (referee)
Title: Differences in postural activity during quiet standing when breathing abdominally. Aim and purpose: Aim of this study was to examine the effects of abdominal breathing on selected muscles and stability during quiet standing to find empirical evidence if it can reduce the strain and change the activity pattern, which erect standing demands from the muscles. Methods and materials: This thesis begins with an introduction to theoretical part in which we gathered all the already existing and written information needed to form the knowledge base for our experiment. Continuing in 9th chapter, methodology and experiment procedure are described where we measured muscle activity using surface EMG and to monitor changes in stability we used force- plate for posturography where only linear parameters were acquired. Both devices were used simultaneously while the subject was in quiet stance for a period of 90 seconds. Results: Results shown decrease in most of the muscles, with a higher increase in body sway in medio- lateral than in antero-posterior direction. Signal didn't change to a more distinct wave-like pattern of rhythmic oscillations, as we had thought it would. Keywords: Posture, quiet standing, abdominal breathing, diaphragm, system interrelation, EMG, posturography
