Administration support of independent cultural institutions

Diploma thesis Administration support of an independent cultural institutions? works with the theme of production-administration support of an independent/experimental theater companies and individual artists. Wide range of different possibilities of that support is shown by the example of London based organization called ARTSADMIN. ARTSADMIN stands here as a representative to comparison with similar organizations in Czech Republic, which are, by its merit of cooperation with an artist, close to the theme of production-administration and which are also able to perform such a support. Next to this, text brings us the insight view on current conditions, as legislation and financial support system in Czech Republic, which are not ideal. Final part of the work concludes obtained knowledge into the model organization, which would be able to function fully, even in current conditions.
Czech Centres

This Bachelor thesis focuses on the Czech Centres (Česká centra), a semi-budgetary organisation funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The main aim of this organisation is to promote Czech culture abroad, but its work is based on four pillars: culture, education, trade and tourism. Although other transnational political organisations also focus on three of these pillars, the promotion of Czech culture is a prerogative of Czech Centres. This thesis contains a comprehensive description of the functioning of the Czech Centres both from legal and economic point of view, its integration to the state administration, territorial allocation, history etc. The second part of this thesis compares the Czech Centres with two other foreign cultural centres: the Goethe Institute and the Polish Institute.  A separate chapter is devoted to dramaturgy of the Czech Centres and to a trip of one of the theatres from Prague (Dejvické divadlo) to Buenos Aires.
Transformation of Dejvické Theatre

"Transformation of Dejvické Theatre" work aims on describing the change of legal form of Dejvické theater, which occurred in 2004 and seeks to capture the impact this change had on the operation of this theater in the coming years. The work is divided into seven chapters, that chronologically describe the development of the situation. Great emphasis is placed on the relationship between founder of the organization, Prague 6 and Dejvické theater. I consider the chosen theme of the thesis very actual because of the forthcoming transformation of some other Prague theaters that has been already postponed several times. The unique experience of Dejvicke theater might be very helpful for these organizations.
Social theatre projects

This thesis is dealing with social-specific theatre projects that carry a positive information about minorities. The first part is dedicated to a detailed analysis of this multidisciplinary topic, used terms and influence it has on participants and majority. Next part is dealing with history of similar activities in The Czech Republic. Following chapters are describing specifics of production management, especially fundraising. Next part of this thesis is a list of selected social-theatre groups and projects. This selection shall be an overlay of different approaches to this problematic. The last section describes social-cultural centres in The Czech Republic and their influence on the cultural and social development in problematic localities.
Audience developement ? using CRM and sale database systems for the purpose of Audience Developement

This bachelor thesis entitled "Audience Development using CRM and sale database systems for the purpose of audience development" treats the possibilities of using the Client Relationship Management marketing method and sale database systems for the purpose of audience development of cultural institutions within the region of the city of Prague. A few first chapters are theoretical: they deal with the theory of CRM in general, with the typology of acquired information, and the legislative context, that is, the question of the protection of personal data. The second part of the thesis is an analysis of means and methods used presently for audience development by diverse cultural institutions in the capital city, Prague. Specifically, this part of the thesis deals with the question of what type of data about audience are at these institutions´ disposal, how is the data acquired, and how is it processed once acquired. Taking into consideration both the theoretical principles as well as the results of the practical application research, the final part of the thesis is an attempt to define an assignment for the development of an optimal software audience development CRM application.
Culture animation

The dissertation study represents selected initiation cultural concepts, that are based on stimulation of individuals and groups to enable their participation in social and cultural activities. This study deals with their potential usage in the framework of professional cultural organizations dealing with performing arts, particularly the theatre art in the Czech Republic. The dissertation study presents the Polish model of culture animation in the sense of a syllabus ?Cultural Animation? at the Institute of Polish Culture associated with Warsaw University. This programme motivates both individuals and communities to take an active approach to life and towards creating of socio-cultural events irrespective of artistic talents, socials origin and age. Furthermore, this study presents ?community arts? as an Anglo-Saxon form of cultural animation, and art gallery animation as a form of offering the arts to an increasing number of audiences. This benefits both foreign and domestic museums and galleries. The author of this study uses the global label ?animation activities? for these approaches and analyses their contribution to cultural organizations. In addition, the author introduces activation approaches in conjunction with contemporary challenges involved in marketing of the arts and the cultural research. The author also investigates the possibilities of using animation activities as a strategy of developing and educating the Czech public and points out the foreign and domestic examples of animation activities.
Internet as a instrument of promoting theater

The Thesis ?Internet as a instrument of promoting theater? deals with issues of Internet marketing. Looking at two different models of Theater it describes ideals tools of Internet marketing for each model in the least financially challenging way. The impulse for creating this work was given by the increasing pressure of electronic media. We felt the need to clearly differentiate Internet marketing tools using examples of specific type of theatre so that the non-profit sector would not fall too far behind the commercial world which already uses the Internet marketing to a great extent.
THE MeetFACTORY - DREAMWORKS AT SMÍCHOV...

This bachelor thesis called MeetFACTORY - DREAMWORKS AT SMÍCHOV? is aimed to describe the foundation, history, current situation and reflection of further development of this Prague cultural center. The art factory concept is introduced by presentation of the phenomenon of independent cultural centers in general and mapping its development in the Czech Republic and abroad. The next part introduces artist David Černý who stands behind the whole MeetFactory idea. The thesis is describing the birth of the idea, formation of its concept, creation and sequential crash of the first attempt to run this cultural center, stagnancy of this project and its resurrection in a new venue, location with different characteristics. The thesis also describes the first season of the cultural center and recapitulates the results of its activity. Furthermore, it compares MeetFactory with other recently opened subjects at Prague cultural scene, that are similar in organization and program contents with the MeetFactory vision. At the end there is a proposal of steps leading to the appropriate transformation of this center, that would reflect expected urban development of the location and which would also follow market trends and cultural preferences of the society.
The Role of the Theatre in Corporate Social Responsibility

Nowadays, there occures a discussion about the position of culture and arts in the society and about different ways of their subvention. The state is reducing subsidies therefore culture institutions are forced to look for other sources of support. Independent culture and living arts, mostly arising from NGO sector, are the ones most influenced by these circumstances. Hence the cultural institutions look for commercial support. In the first part of the thesis I introduce the concept of the corporate social responsibility as a tool for NGO support and a manual how to build a useful partnership between a corporation and a cultural institution. The first part focuses also on how volunteers can be incortorated in cultural activities. The last part is a case study of the British theatre festival LIFT and its cooperation with the commercial sector. It also analyzes two different approaches to the social responsibility of the two crucial Czech companies.

The thesis is a brief instruction how to accomplish optimal theatre presentation due to speedily developing media - Internet. The work offers a proceeding and bring important questions which theatre managements should ask if they really want to succeed in their internet presentation. The thesis also suggests solutions of the asked questons. The text also brings an analysis of chosen web pages that are run by twenty seven theatres in the Czech Republic. They serve as an example of the most frequent problems of this specific theatre presentation in the Czech Republic.
