Choral Works of Emil Hradecký

This thesis deals with the figure of contemporary Czech composer Emil Hradecký with a special respect to choral compositions. In the first chapter the author introduces Emil Hradecký as a mUSlC teacher, composer and publisher. In the following chapter she describes Hradecký's music work in general, inc1uding his methodological handbooks and instructive pieces. The core of the thesis is the part which focuses on Hradecký's choral works. It contains a complete list of his choral works and analysis of several works which il1ustrate his various compositional styles. The significance of this thesis is in its survey of Hradecký's choral works, especially due to the fact that a monograph about this composer has not been published yet. The author hopes that this thesis might contribute to extending of the general knowledge about this composer.
Jaroslav Herden: A Music Teacher

The thesis introduces one of the most important personalities of the Czech musical pedagogy of the last century - professor PaedDr. Jaroslav Herden, CSc. Its aim of the thesis is to present the wide range of pedagogical activities he practiced. The thesis consists of six main chapters dealing with Herden's life with the focus on his musical activities, his education and professional growth. The chapters analyse Herden's experience at the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague and his publication and broadcast activities. This work also mentions the Summer School of Music, as Herden was its founder. The last part of the thesis focuses on the heritage of this extraordinary personage.

This bachelor thesis describes the history of choral singing in Ústí nad Orlicí, focusing on its influence on the contemporary musical enviroment. The thesis clarifies the role of choirs in the musical history of Ústí nad Orlicí and lists all choirs and vocal groups that have worked in the town, including those that are active today.
The City of Čelákovice and the Prominent Figures of the Local Musical Life

Résumé This graduation thesis The City of Čelákovice and the prominent figures of the local musical life deals with the town's history and culture, focusing mainly on the prominent figures, orchestras and other bodies of the local musical life. The paper is divided into six chapters. The introduction is dedicated to the birth and development of the city, the second chapter introduces various cultural institutions. The remaining chapters focus on the main topic of the thesis. Special attention is given not only to the prominent baroque composer Jan Zach, or to Bohumír Hanžlík, a celebrity on the current musical scene, but also to other less prominent people who left the mark on the city's musical history. The contents and focus of the paper make it especially suitable to those interested in the town of Čelákovice, its culture, prominent figures and musical history.
Gospel - the History, Analysis of Repertoire and Performing Style

Gospel is a musical genre characterized by dominant vocals (often with strong use of harmony) reťerencing lyrics of a religious nature, particularly Christian. In the first chapter, I describe gospel as a phenomenon and I mentioned its historical roots. The second chapter deals with the black and white gospel and its subchapters (2.1. 2.2) illustrate the history and development of the both genre. I he third chapter contains the historical genres related to gospel. The main attention is paid to the Negro Spirituals (3.1) and to the blues' music (3.2). The fourth chapter embraces typical examples of songs from Negro spirituál to contemporary gospel songs. The next Chapter (5) is the culmination of my diploma work. I described there the originál means of expression typical for the written scores and practical performing usage of gospel music. I found it the most important and interesting Chapter because I mentioned there many examples typical for gospel music from the musical point of view. The individua! subchapters explain some instructions of interpreters how to realize specific demands. They concern the gospel moan, screams and shouts, song-speech and gospel vibrato, pitch, passing toneš, bends, neighbour toneš and the gospel groupetto, vocal ornaments, rhythm, gospel phrasing and syncopation, repetition,...
Bambini di Praga

The author of this graduation theses on the theme "Bambini di Praga" gives a complete information about the Czech children's choir with a long tradition. He monitores its history in full details from the very beginning, it means from 1940 till today. He introduces its founders and choirmasters who are engaged in this choir today. He describes the School of Choir Singing by Bambini di Praga which was founded as a first private school of this type after a velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia. In further chapters the author focuses on relationships inside the choir as well as on its influence on choir members. He draws from his own experience as a member of the Bambini di Praga. At the close of the theses he speculates upon a purpose of children's choirs in 21st century. There are several interviews with composers who ever composed for the choir in this theses as well as personal memories of Mrs. Blanka Kulinska, a choirmaster and one of the founders of the choir. A complete repertoire of the choir, a full discography and a list of foreign concert tours are enclosed.
