Original literary reportage and its theoretical definition

This thesis compiles the phenomenon of literary reportage, also known as the Polish School of Reportage. In theoretical level, it compares literary reportage with conventional reportage and including this key differences defines the genre. It also follows history of reportage by connecting it with literary and journalistic tradition, while focusing on specific development in Poland. Examples of contemporary literary reportage in Poland and in the Czech Republic are included as well. Furthermore, the thesis covers the question of fiction and fictional narrative in the genre, it applies theoretical knowledge of narratology and considers the significance of fiction in literary reportage. The second part of the thesis is original reportage picturing the return of wolves into Czech nature.
Havel's legacy at Ostrovní 13 (literary reportage)

This thesis presents the Václav Havel Library and the legacy of the person whose name it holds in the form of the literary reportage. In the theoretical part it defines the literary reportage genre. Firstly it describes the historical development of the reportage, focusing on the Czech and Polish journalistic and literary enviroment. Then, in contrast with the Czech tradition, it defines the specific genre that is the Polish literary reportage, focusing in more detail on the types of narrators and the language it uses. In the practical part the theoretical knowledge is being implemented in the form of an original literary reportage, which presents the environment and the functioning of the Václav Havel Library. It presents an unique institution that was modeled on the American presidential libraries for the purpose of archiving and publishing the works of Václav Havel and related materials, as well as organising cultural events that carry his spirit. The literary reportage Havel's legacy at Ostrovní 13 gives an interpretation of what the legacy represents, meaning in what areas we can still feel the influence of Václav Havel and what makes him an inspiration to many. The rigorous thesis "The Poet Sings Poorly. The Media Response to The Song about Viktorka by Jaroslav Seifert in The Fifties of 20th Century" deals with the campaign set against the poet Jaroslav Seifert and his piece "The Song about Viktorka". The affair was raised by the communist weekly magazine "Tvorba". There is a critical historical analysis applied in the rigorous thesis. The event is outlined from the wide perspective and also the medial, cultural-political, aesthetical and personality sights are viewed and combined there. It attends to the cultural, political and medial conditions in the turn of the 40s and 50s and it also analyses Seifert's position in this period. It investigates the acceptance of Seifert's poetic skills after the year 1948 and also it describes poet's political profile and his relationship to the communist party. It follows in details by broad circumstances which the critics of Seifert's poem "The Song about Viktorka" provoked and which were extended until the inter-war period. This thesis deals with the media reflection of the totalitarian past in the Czech press, namely the reflection of the first phase of development of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia (1948-1953). As a model example used the controversy in the autumn of 2008 on Milan Kundera's denunciation. That unleashed Respekt, coming up with information that later gave a famous writer in the 1950 Western Courier of Czech origin.
