HIV and AIDS The object and purpose of this work is to map and summary of publicly available information about HIV and AIDS. Larger part of the work is focused on history, which surveys the breathtaking speed of the spread of HIV and AIDS worldwide. Statistics show, that people's awareness about HIV and AIDS is relatively low. Therefore I believe the information collected here will be able to use in the future to deepen students' knowledge in teaching natural history and biology.
Non randomised selection of a group of dental patients, a study of relations between risk factors and the state of dental health.
Nekůžová, Dora ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Přívratský, Vladimír (referee)
In my thesis I focused on the relationship between the influence of risk factors and the dental health status. The evaluation of the results was made on the basis of testing and verification of the set hypotheses, using my own graphs and statistical evaluation (in the program Statistica 6.0). For the research I used the data of 613 dental patients. I could draw these data from the provided file of their medical cards. The study is divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part I focused on the anatomical structure of teeth, on dental caries, dental stone, and their creation and prevention. A large part of my work is dedicated to disease of the oral cavity and its hygiene. In this section I deal with various types of periodontal diseases (chronica of gingivitis, periodontitis) and their prevention. The practical part deals with the hypotheses themselves. I set seven hypotheses. The set hypotheses focus on risk factors, namely sex, residence, age, oral hygiene, frequency of preventive medical examinations, and illnesses which the patients suffer from. I evaluated the influence of these risk factors with regard to the cariosity and overall dental health of the dental patients. The results show that there is a difference in the state of the dental health according to the gender (the...
Health literacy in primary and secondary school and health literacy of university students
Kopřivová, Kateřina ; Přívratský, Vladimír (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
This work examines the acknowledges and skills from the first-aid treatment among the students from the primary, secondary schools, also among the students at the universities and teachers with a longtime practise. And from the results of the interview investigation it is looking for the causes of the lowness consciousness and ignorance of the important themes of first-aid treatment. It also investigates if is it possible to leam the first aid in terms of the compulsory education or in cascading grades of education. Especially by means of the study of curriculum (generály educational programs, subjects and biology textbooks). The possible cause of the critical condition of the restrictive student's acknowledges can be teacher's under-qualification. The part of this work is a proposal of the curriculum of health seminar for teachers which is filled with the corresponding studying text.
Doping - the knowledge and attitudes of university students
Křížová, Petra ; Ehler, Edvard (referee) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor)
Sport is an important part of today's society. It is leisure time's activity, entertainment, and prevention of health problems. Nowadays, the importance of sport is oriented mainly on performance and success. Under these conditions, doping substances may in some cases mean way to success. Knowledge of doping substances among athletes is very important in order to prevent positive doping and all its consequences. It is therefore important to consistently inform both adults and young athletes about this issue, and emphasise the prevention of this problem at the same time. The main goal is to map the current knowledge, attitudes and foreknowledge of students of physical education courses about doping problems. The data obtained was compared with previous reviews.
BMI values in students of lower secondary schools
Revenda, Lukáš ; Ehler, Edvard (referee) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor)
More and more children are fascinated with idea of perfect slender figure today that brings them over a boundary of health troubles. The causes of this phenomenon are mainly seen in social and psychical factors, but biological causes, which have at least as same or stronger influence on subconscious perception of weight, are usually ignored. The important part of satisfied personality is not only weight but height of individuum as well. The ratio between these two parameters is determined by the Body Mass index (BMI) and in this thesis I will focused on why the values of BMI are essentially significant for adolescent. This submitted diploma thesis deals with values of BMI and factors that influence pupils in the age of 10 - 16 years. Identified values results from measurements of 681 pupils on 8 Prague's primary schools. The results of weight and height measuring were compared with findings of national anthropological research of the year 2001, let us say 1991. From the measurement that was made is clear that there was no increase of average body weight of boys in every categories under examination and as well no decrease of average body weight of girls in every categories under examination in comparison with CAV 2001.
Experimental testing of reactivity of huzul horses
Horáková, Veronika ; Ehler, Edvard (referee) ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor)
This thesis experimentally tested the reactivity of 39 horses from which there were 19 huzuls, 10 Czech warmblood horses, 1 Noriker, 1 crossbreed of thoroughbred and Lipizzaner horse, 1 coldblood horse, 3 half-blood horses and 4 thoroughbreds. The objective of the thesis was to compare the reactivity of Huzul horses used for hippotherapy and training of children with a control group of horses used for recreational riding, and asses the suitability of huzul horses for use in hippotherapy from a reactivity point of view. During the test horses were presented with four objects (a moving and vocalizing toy of piglet, a mirror, an umbrella and a ball). Each of those was presented to the horse for 20 sec. The reactions of the horses to each of the objects were evaluated and used to calculate an avarage reactivity score for each horse. Based on the results of the statistical analysis, it was shown that the reactivity of the huzul horses used in hippotherapy and training of children was lower than that of the control group.
Occurence of pollen allergy in pupils of elementary and secondary schools
Pour, Jakub ; Ehler, Edvard (referee) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor)
The present diploma thesis deals with occurrence of pollen allergy in pupils of elementary and secondary schools, i. e. in 9 to 18 year olds, and with attitude of elementary and secondary school teachers towards pupils suffering from allergy. The measured data on occurrence of pollen allergy are based on analysis of laboratory request forms from the Synlab immunology laboratory. The measured data on attitudes of teachers towards pupils suffering from allergy are based on direct research connected to a questionnaire survey. The outcomes concerning the occurrence of pollen allergy has been compared to those measured by the State Medical Institute in 2007. The measurement results suggest that, compared to the data of the State Medical Institute from 2007, there was a decrease in number of allergic boys in all age groups and an increase in number of allergic girls in all age groups. The total number of allergy sufferers is lower in boys than in girls. The results of the questionnaire survey on attitudes of elementary and secondary school teachers suggest that secondary school teachers are more aware of pollen allergy sufferers in pupils. Furthermore, secondary school teachers are more capable of applying first aid to allergy sufferers if health problems occur in class.
