Acceptance and development of a child with hearing impairment in a hearing family

This thesis deals with the acceptance and development of a child with hearing impairment in a hearing family. The first chapter of the theoretical part deals with hearing impairment and the basic terminology of the discipline. The second chapter deals with the possibilities of compensation and rehabilitation of hearing. The third chapter represents the communication of hearing impaired children and different communication systems. The penultimate chapter is devoted to the development and education of children with hearing impairment. The final chapter of the theoretical part represents the system of educational care for children with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic. The practical part of the thesis deals with the experiences of parents raising a child with hearing impairment. The main objective of the research is to find out how the acceptance and development of a hearing impaired child in a hearing family. According to the character of the research, qualitative research method was used. The results of the work should facilitate the understanding of parents in a situation where it is their task to raise a child with hearing impairment.
Czech union of the deaf - the importance of organization for the quality of life of people with hearing disabilities

The thesis called Česká unie neslyšících (Czech Union of the Deaf) - the importance of organization for the quality of life of people with hearing disabilities brings knowledge of special educational care for adults with hearing loss. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with a complex presentation of hearing impairment in a person's life. The emphasis is mainly focused on the factors influencing the quality of life of these people. The great importance of institutions - schools, associations and clubs in the lives of people with hearing impairments is also introduced. Main attention is given to the organization named Česká unie neslyšících. It describes its history and current situation. Research survey indicated in the practical part of this thesis is also focused on organization Česká unie neslyšících. The research was realized by questionnaire survey among the clients of the organization. The aim of the research is to evaluate the benefits of the organization for the people with hearing impairments. The research survey focuses mainly on describing the frequency and reasons for using the services and activities of this organization by its clients. Individual speech therapy in school for children with auditory impairment

The subject of thesis was to investigate and compare the communication skills of pupils of the first class with a different type, degree of hearing loss and different living conditions. The methodology of work was based on principles of qualitative research; it is a case study of three students from the first grade class for children with hearing impairments; speech therapy of these three pupils who have different hearing loss and variable compensation of hearing loss was compared. Firstly, available materials of monitored pupils were studied, secondly the technique of "participant observation - full observer" was used to collect data. The set of thematic pictograms was used to compare comprehension and vocabulary of studied children. Significant differences between the observed students were revealed during the investigation. One boy (hard of hearing with a hearing aid) to communicates comparable to their peers without hearing impairment and had a very good vocabulary, which is probably due to regular wearing hearing aids since early childhood, early auditory and speech education and the excellent cooperation and support of the family. TITLE: The possibilities of rehabilitation for people suffering from tinnitus AUTHOR: Bc. Petra Dvořáková DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Miroslava Kotvová ABSTRACT: The increasing phenomenon of tinnitus, the perception of noise caused by permanent damage to the cochlear hair cells, lately resulted in growing focus towards this problem. The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate, which of the available therapies for tinnitus is mostly sought by patients. The work presents insights of this phenomenon through its classification, provided aetiology and mainly focuses on possibilities of available therapies. Henceforth, the chapter with focus on the impact of tinnitus on the daily life of people suffering from tinnitus is one of the core chapters of this thesis. The practical part evaluates the already realised qualitative and quantitative research. Further, the quantitative method used is the questionnaire construction. The resulting values are summarised and presented with their absolute and relative abundance in tables and graphs.
