Mentoring novice teachers in Finland

This thesis introduces a topic of mentoring of novice teachers in Finland. The main goal is to analyse a novice teachers peer-group mentoring model as a case study of project Paedeia Café and evaluate its advantages and disadvantages in comparison to dyadic form of mentoring. Further, to bring ideas for implementation of Finnish experiences into Czech context. In theoretical part, we define mentoring in teaching profession, then we briefly introduce specifics of Finnish education system, peer-group mentoring and Paedeia Café. The research part analyses interview with mentors, novice teachers and manager of the project as well as participating observations. The results of the study show that Paedeia Café is a project which connects experienced teachers and students in last years of their studies. The advantages of the project are financial savings and creation of a space for discussion about professional issues. Disadvantages are more difficult structure, confusion of mentor's roles and low support in academic literature. In the Czech Republic, we can be inspired by a connection of experienced teachers and students, also by a space for sharing teaching profession experience in informal atmosphere. Role of low-treshold centre in small town

The bachelor thesis deals with low-threshold equipment for children and youth and its role in a small town. The first four chapters are purely theoretical and rather of general nature. In the first chapter I deal with its anchoring in the legislation that the service provides, the course of provision of services and the persons working in these facilities. In the second chapter, I focus on the target group for these devices, what are their main characteristics, the development and possible risk behavior they commit. In the third part I focus on the definition of a small town. Social structure of the population, education and alternative opportunities for children and youth. In the fourth chapter I am describing a particular facility that is aimed at the clientele of a typical small town. Archival writings, yearbooks and information provided by the facility's staff were used to describe the facility. The last part of the thesis is research. First, I have determined the research questions and the way I will verify them according to the theoretical knowledge from the relevant literature. The survey itself was first conducted by a questionnaire method, where the clients filled out the questionnaires with the participation of an adult. Montessori pedagogy in the Czech education

The thesis processes the use of Montessori pedagogy in the Czech environment. The introductory chapters of this thesis describe the life and work of Marie Montessori, the fundamental anthropological thoughts and principles, and the development of Montessori approach. The thesis maps out by descriptive method the current institutions and primary schools which operates in the Czech environment. The following chapters contain case studies of two Montessori primary schools in Prague. The results of this thesis show that the approach of Marie Montessori is not just a rigid conception, but that it is still capable of development in the living process in school practice.
