Subject of Frida Kahlo, Mexican and popular art is theme of my master's thesis "Inspiration in the art work of Frida Kahlo" for The Institute of The Ibero - American Studies at The Charles University in Prague. I dissert on researching whether pre- Columbian symbols, popular art, religious or everyday motives are present in the artwork of Frida Kahlo. This analyse is completed with pictorial analyse. This thesis is focused on social studies especially on Mexican art and traditions. My thesis reveal in broad picture of nationalistic tendencies in context of Mexican revolution at the beginning of the 20th century. My thesis is not focused only to the life of Frida Kahlo, analysis of her artwork but I've tried to write a complete vision of the woman whose work has been a part of a wider art stream - specific conditions that had accompanied social changes in early 20th century. The author I mentioned is not just a follower. The author broke existing limits with her very personal conception.

Kallová, Gabriela ; Křížová, Markéta (referee) ; Opatrný, Josef (advisor)
The centre of the diploma project consists of analysis of publications of Czech travellers and the memoirs of Czech immigrants to Argentina, who describe the situation in this region in the first thirty years of 20th Century. This work is focused especially on publications of Czech travellers, such as Vladislav Forejt, František Čech-Vyšaty and memoirs of Anna Kodýtková and Božena Čvančarová. Such information's were introduced to readers with great delay. This project describes the way of life of our emigrants in that time, such as the motivation for trade or voyages. These publications are critically assessed and the project comes out with realistic picture of Czechoslovak emigrants that was accessible to the Czechoslovak public between two world wars. The Diploma project is mainly inspired by work of Ivan Dubovický, Rudolf Míšek and Bohumil Baďura, who studied the phenomenon of immigrants to Latin American region. The project deals also with the theme of immigration in general as a phenomenon that influences development of nations as well as the whole world.

Deylová, Iva ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Korecká, Zuzana (referee)
The diploma thesis "Huehuetlatolli - moral lessons not only of the old Aztecs" examines this rather unknown genre of Nahua literature from various viewpoints. The original form of these probably only orally transmitted traditions is nowadays known due to the records made by two Spanish Franciscan missionaries Andrés de Olmos and Bernardino de Sahagún. Both of them started showing interest in the indigenous cultures and traditions immediately after arriving in the area of the present Mexico at the beginning of the colonization period. The analysis presented in this work is based on the Volume VI of the book Historia general de las cosas de Nueva Espaa written by Bernardino de Sahagún. The introductory chapters offer a rather general description of Nahua culture and its relationship to the most famous pre-Columbian ethnic group - the Aztecs. This information was largely obtained through the study of texts of both Mexican and foreign scholars such as Ángel María Garibay, Miguel León-Portilla, Markéta Křížová, and others. The text also mentions how the missionaries Andrés de Olmos and Bernardino de Sahagún collected the texts. I also provide arguments why I chose texts edited by Bernardino de Sahagún as a source of this thesis. Additionally, it was also important to classify and mention the main characteristics...
