Public awareness in the Czech Republic about hearing impairment

This bachelor thesis is focused on public awareness about hearing impairment in the Czech Republic. The main objective is to find more information about this topic. The first theoretical part describes basic theory, which is important for better understanding and orientation in hearing impairements issues. The practical part is dedicated to special education of people with hearing impairment, public attitudes towards people with this disability are also mentioned. This part is also focused on research with anonymous questionnaire, which includes questions about basic terms, knowledge of hearing impairment types, or experiences with meeting these people and how would respondents comunicate, if somebody with this disability asked for help. Questionaire is also focused on attitudes of respondents to hearing impairements and how they protect their own hearing. It implies from the research, that respondents are quite well informed about hearing handicaps, and that they are willing to help people with these disabilities despite their shyness. But even if they know how to protect their own hearing, they do not follow the rules of proper aural hygiene very much.
Communication of the child with delayed speech development in institucional care

The diploma thesis is focused on the theme of speech therapy. The thesis deals with problems of delayed speech development in pre-school children, especially their vocabulary. The main aim of the thesis is the evaluation of vocabulary as well as evaluation of awareness about possibilities of enrichment and indicative range of evaluation of vocabulary. The main investigation was realized by means of half-structuralized interviews with respondents, who spend the most time and are in the daily contact with evaluated children. Arose findings should help to increase the effectiveness of speech therapy in the field of speech content of children with delayed language development. The output of this thesis is the newly created testing materials that will help assess the indicative range of vocabulary in these children.
Lexicon evaluation of school-age children with hearing impairment

This thesis deals with observing differences in vocabulary in sign language with hearing impaired kids at school age who visit elementary school for hearing impaired. This work is divided between two parts, theoretical and practical. This part is divided into three chapters. First chapter deals with the importance of hearing and classification of the hearing impairment and diagnostics. In this thesis is also included speech development of hearing impaired children and hearing children. Next part also contains of specific features occurring in speech of the hearing impaired people. It includes a list of tests which can be used to evaluate vocabulary with children. The last chapter of the theoretical part describes the development of the child during school age. The theoretical part deals with vocabulary in sign language of children with hearing impairment at primary school for the hearing impaired. The research is processed in qualitative form and the main goal of the thesis is to see what differences can be observed in vocabulary of children with hearing impairment and verify whether the selected test material is suitable for working with these children. Education of pupils with hearing impairment in elementary schools

The thesis deals with education of pupils with hearing impairment in elementary schools, specifically in the South Bohemian region. It focuses in particular on their inclusive education. In its chapters, the thesis describes individual structures of the hearing analyzer, characterizes the degrees of hearing impairment and classifies persons with hearing impairment into specific categories. The main part of the thesis is a chapter focusing on education of hearing impaired pupils. It deals not only with education in the system of special schools, but concentrates primarily on their study within mainstream education. For this system of education, it is important to identify correctly a support measure, the levels of which are key to ensuring appropriate support for individual pupils. The aim of the work was to map the course of inclusive education of pupils with hearing impairment at elementary schools in the South Bohemian region. The objective was to assess the negatives and positives of inclusion and the impact of hearing impairment on the communication and social abilities of these pupils. Reading books in pupils with hearing impairment

This diploma thesis deals with the reading of pupils with hearing impairment, popularity of reading books at the 2nd level of primary school for the hearing impaired based on their specifics, which arise from their disability. Firstly, the thesis is devoted to reading literacy and reading in general, its anchoring in education and the view of hearing impairment in two disciplines. The thesis also describes the best-known research on reading literacy and reading. After that, reading and reading literacy topics are closely focused on pupils with hearing impairment, which is also closely related to the issue of acquiring the language of the majority among people with hearing impairment also due to the differences between Czech language and Czech sign language. Furthermore, the analysis of data and interpretation of the results of the research carried out at primary schools for the hearing impaired by means of questionnaires for pupils and their teachers is included. Some of the specifics typical for deaf pupils in relation to reading can be deduced from the outcomes of the research, but also the same elements that were found when compared with the research of reading by the hearing pupils in the Czech Republic.
Approaches to the development of communication skills of children of the younger school-age

The diploma thesis deals with the communication skills of children of the younger school- age in a common primary school. In this thesis, expressive and receptive components of speech are monitored and the progress in both of them written down. The theoretical part focuses on "communication" in general and on the definition of related terms as well. An "impaired communication ability" is also described and its individual types are elaborated in detail. For each type, the thesis states description of symptoms, diagnosis and prevention. Last but not least, the theoretical part deals with the education of children with special educational needs. The diploma thesis also covers and explains terms that are connected to this topic as well as explains support measures or aids. The research part, using mixed research (qualitative and quantitative), focuses on children of the younger school-age attending a common primary school. The specifics that occur in the communication skills of these children are observed as well as their progress in particular exercises. Development of Motor Skills and Perceptual Abilities of Children with Developmental

This bachelor's thesis is focused on the development of motor skills and perceptual abilities of children with the developmental dysphasia. The theoretical part briefly specifies the terms communication and the impairment of communication ability. It offers a detailed description of the developmental dysphasia issue, of its etiology and symptomatology. It describes the types of the developmental dysphasia, diagnostic and therapy. Furthermore, the theoretical part briefly describes motor skills and perceptual abilities. The practical part is approached to as a case study of a boy with the developmental dysphasia. Research is qualitative with the use of observation, semi-structured interview with the mother and the analysis of medical reports. The aim of this thesis is to verify the set of exercises which was put together by the author and to ascertain whether these exercises are beneficial for children with the developmental dysphasia.
