The Existential Poetry and Jiří Orten

The work is divided into two chapters. In the first one the World's and Czech poets (chosen on the basis of Orten's list of reading) are analyzed. Those authors could be understood as impersonators or predecessors of the existential tendencies and it's provable Orten knew their works well (i.a. Rilke, Rimbaud, Akhmatova, Mácha, Weiner, Halas, Holan, Zahradníček, Bonn and Daniel). The second and more voluminous chapter consists of the motives' and topics' analysis of Orten's literary work, focused mainly on the poetry and less on the other literary genres - notes, letters, prose. The most of his poems and notes is based on the factual life experience and their ethos is founded on both existential and Christian moral philosophy. There's also an influence of some other intellectual tendencies and artistic styles like folk literature, romanticism, impressionism, less intensively expressionism, naturalism, psychoanalysis, surrealism and naturism. To get the coherent interpretation of Orten's work it's necessary to reflect (beside the existential motives) the pathos of the intimate traumatic relationship to the father, the girl(friend)s and the unborn child as well as the deeply Christian understanding of reality (connected with the biblical /The Old Testament/ dialogical relation to the God, the...

Psí víno by Anna Blažíčková

This bachelor's thesis presents a literary analysis of Anna Blažíčková's novella Psí víno. In four chapters I focus on the following: textual components (formal structure, textual coherence and basic narrative structure), linguistic components (stylistic, syntactic, lexical and morphological), characterization (types of characters, means of explicit and implicit characterization, realisation of the theme through characters) and the theme itself (themes of family, loss and work). The aim of this thesis is to discover and present basic structural and thematic components of the novella.

Literar-critical work of Jan Lopatka in the context of his personal library

The thesis highlights the literary-critical work of Jan Lopatka in the context of his personal library. It is a literary-historical and critical description of his work by characterizing and defining thematic blocks, which Lopatka systematically pursued in his personal library. It centers on a comparison of the significance of his work and pinpoints defined blocks in Lopatka's library fund and their significance in his literary criticism. Based on a complete inventory of his personal library (prepared by the author of this thesis) and its knowledge, research characterizes his work mainly from this perspective. Attention will also be paid to manuscripts, typescripts and notes in his books.

Hidden feminity of Jiřina Hauková

Dílo básnířky Jiřiny Haukové stojí v české literatuře na čestném, a zároveň téměř opomíjeném místě. Hauková je jaksi samozřejmě vnímána jako členka Skupiny 42, a stejně jistě je přijímána jako překladatelka z angličtiny. Coby svébytná básnířka setrvala dlouho, když ne přímo opodál zájmu literární kritiky, tak řekněme alespoň "ve stínu"svých skupinových souputníků. Příčiny tohoto faktu ponechávám stranou, ale připouštím, že toto "proč" se stalo pohnutkou ke zrodu mé diplomové práce. Dalším podnětem byly některé kritické poznámky recenzentů, kteří hodnotili poezii Baukové jakožto ženskou, aniž by ovšem tuto "ženskost" nějak blíže specifikovali. Na druhé straně, mnoho jiných kritiků ponechávalo tento aspekt její poezie bez povšimnutí. Úkolem diplomové práce bude tedy analýza poetiky vybraných sbírek a polemika s jejich kritickou recepcí za účelem prozkoumání ženského básnického subjektu v poezii Jiřiny Baukové. Z důvodu rozsáhlosti básnického díla Jiřiny Baukové, jsem si pro potřeby této práce vybrala určitý jeho "vzorek". V době, kdy jsem se rozhodovala, ještě nebylo celé dílo završeno, proto jsem zvolila možnost sledovat básnířku Jiřinu Baukovou od samých počátků tvorby. Diploma thesis Czech literary dreams deals with interpretation of three novels by Milan Kundera (The Joke, Life Is Elsewhere, The Book of Laugter and Forgetting). The core of the interpretations lies with the dreamy parts of the novel. The meaning of the text was sought within relations of more and less noticeable subjects and intertextual references. The interpretations of chosen Kundera's novels are partially observed through the context of works of Ludvík Vaculík, in particular by the context of The Czech Dreambook.

The Reflection of Writing in Sešity by Jan Hanč

This bachelor essay focuses on the analysis of the texts about the author's own writing in the section Sešity from Události by Jan Hanč. It deals with a portrait of the writer and his craft in this literary work. Within the interpretation of the text, the writer pays attention to the identity of writing subject or the relation between writing and physicality. She also gives a stylistic analysis of Sešity with an emphasis on the communication situation.
