Research Methods of Information Behavior

The bachelour thesis discusses research methods of information behaviour. The introduction of this work reviews information behaviour in terms of information: need, request, seeking and search. The body introduces basic theories and models which were created at the time of studies of the mentioned subject. The core of the thesis examines methods of research based on three basic approaches: sociological, psychological and from discipline HCI. This review also consists of details on specific methods of information behaviour such as, transaction log analysis or citation analysis. Besides each method there are described advantages and disadvantages which determine the methods being applied. Marketing of organic food in South Bohemia

In the Bachelor Thesis on Marketing of Organic Food in South Bohemia, analyzes the current state of organic food in above-mentioned region from the perspective of marketing. The main purpose is to find out the customers relation to organic food and the main aspects which are decisive in shopping. The basic marketing concepts as a who is the customer, types of customer's behavior in the market, marketing and marketing mix, are defined in the first theoretical part. Furthermore, the explanation of the term "organic food", such as the legislative requirements for organic certification, the types of organic food labeling, quality control, the certification company and the situation on the organic food market, too. In the practical part the author evaluates the acquired data and information from the questionnaire survey. Data analysis is critical and determines the ultimate solution. In conclusion, the author introduces the measures and recommendations based on the information of obtained analysis.

The thesis "Geocaching in Library - possibilities of using the phenomenon of geocaching in the library service" aims to create a specific methodological material about a connection of a public library to a geocaching system. The general part of the text covers a discussion about the geocaching phenomenon itself, as well as it describes GPS spaces and a process of inserting coordinates into records of geographical authorities. It continues with infor- mation about the application interface created for the geocaching community. The thesis proceeds to a description of existing caches and experience of founders of geocaching at the Czech and foreign libraries. The final part presents inspiring opinions and ideas from geocachers and librarians.

Verification of the Kuhlthau's Information Search Process Model in the Environment of the Czech Republic

The thesis focuses on Kuhlthau's Information Search Process Model. Firstly, the author explains Kuhlthau's model of information retrieval and seeking meaning of information from user's perspective. Results of the model are the uncertainty principle and mediation - findings which change our view of library services. In the second part of the thesis, the author introduces other research texts and manuals about writing a scientific text. She pays special attention to Jadwiga Šanderová's comprehensive manual which is called How to read and write a scientific text in social sciences, and to stylistics research text by Světla Čmejrková et al. called How to write down a scientific text. Thirdly, the author evaluates the survey which verifies Kuhlthau's model in the environment of the Czech Republic. Providing Access to Electronic Information Resources at Jan Palach Library CUFA

The bachelor thesis deals with providing access to electronic resources (ER) at Jan Palach Library CUFA. The theoretical part of the thesis defines term ER, describes their typology, deals with acquisition and management and introducing tools for using them. The thesis describes experiences of Jan Palach Library CUFA with providing access to ER and deals with information behavior of ER users. The aim of the thesis is to describe a situation in ER management on example of an university library on Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. The practical part of the thesis is an user research on the method of the survey which results that situation in ER use is slowly getting better, users do not feel foreign language ER production as problem and just only small group of users attended workshop dedicated to ER, because users do not feel the need to. Social media marketing of database vendores and information suppliers

(anglicky) Database vendors and information suppliers are traditional and historically the main components of the information industry. The arrival of internet and its services, including current trends such as social media and networks, has changed and enriched information behaviour, channels and marketing strategies between information suppliers and user. Although the information industry subjects as database vendors are traditional in their marketing strategies, their engagement in social media marketing is proactive and developing. The exploration confirmed that 10 of 12 examined subjects actively develop these channels and support them.

Thesis "Social Network Sites in Corporate Environments" deals with the theme of social network sites (Social Business) in companies. The introduction defines the concept of social network sites and Social Business and presents a brief history of social networking, with an emphasis on internal company use, especially as the developmental stage and the addition of intranet portals. The next section compares the various software solutions. In another part deals with the benefits as well as risks in the use of social network sites in companies and describes a method of analyzing social networks. At the end acquainted with the latest trends, forward-looking and based on research and gives a picture of social network sites and Social Business in companies of different size and orientation, operating in the Czech Republic. Qualman's theory of "socialnomics" and its form in practice

The aim of this thesis is to present the "Socialnomics" theory of Erik Qualman and its form in Czech setting. The first part of thesis outlines the terminology of social media and introduces several social media that are known world wide. The second part analyzes the theory itself including its criticism. The last part of the thesis summarizes the situation in Czech republic when speaking of "Socialnomics".
