The coronavirus epidemic and the audience of Mall.tv
Pokorná, Jana ; Miessler, Jan (advisor) ; Hodboď, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis is investigating the question of how and why there was a change in a viewership of the internet television Mall.tv during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in spring 2020. While looking for an answer for this work, a quantitative analysis of internal data provided by Mall.tv is used. This all is processed with the help of statistical methods. Simultaneously, this work is testing the hypothesis, according to which the audience show #kulturažije could be the key factor influencing the transformation of the size and socio demographic composition. From the results of the analysis, it is clear that the audience was not changed during the spring and that major changes are visible after the spring wave. The hypothesis, which states that the show #kulturažije was supposed to bring more new users to the website, was not confirmed but it was found that impact of the project was rather marginal.
The Media image of Czech post in years 2012 - 2017
Radová, Michaela ; Vlasák, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Hodboď, Vojtěch (referee)
My bachelor study deals with description and evaluation of media image of Czech Post in particular nationwide dailies during the time period from 2012 to 2017. For better contextual understanding the examination exceeds partly also into year 2018. The main goal of study is to examine whether the media image of Czech state postal service and its reputation during the given period were constant or variable (f.e. with regard to current events in this company), coherently it can be also examined whether a tendency is obvious and if such tendency is increasing or declining. The study is divided into two parts. In theoretical part the history of Czech Post is briefly described with stress on the development from 1990s, subsequently the recent business of Czech Post including its management and enterprise development from year 2010 is dealt with. A section is focused on theoretical definition of media image including employed theories, and an overview of examined periodicals: daily Mladá fronta DNES and daily Právo. In the prologue of the second practical part the used methodology is explained. Subsequently, individual contributions are examined using the quantitative and qualitative content analysis. Selected media contributions are elaborated using Newton Media Search database, which records the...

Forming and perceiving youth identity across the online and offline social space
Pauzová, Tereza ; Soukup, Martin (advisor) ; Hodboď, Vojtěch (referee)
The Bachelor Thesis "Forming and perceiving youth identity across the online and offline social space" describes the approach of youth to social networking sites, the forming of youth identity and the way knowledge gained from online social space is reflected in offline social space. The aim of the thesis is to answer the following questions: How do youth form their own identity on social networking sites? How do they perceive others' identity, and do they think that the online and offline social spaces are connected? The theoretical part aims to describe the main concepts that are linked with youth, social networking sites and identity. Furthermore, existing knowledge connected to this issue is introduced. This includes e.g. information linked with internet use, youth's online activities, possible risks connected to the use of internet, ways to form and perceive identity and current knowledge about the interconnection or disconnection of online and offline social spaces. In the practical part I strive to answer the previous questions through qualitative research. The chosen method is a semi- structured interview which is then analyzed by using thematic analysis and a priori coding. The result of this thesis is a more comprehensive view of the issue of youth's use of social networking sites.
Media organization analysis - Seznam Zprávy
Hodboď, Vojtěch ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Miessler, Jan (referee)
In the thesis I deal with the transformation of the media environment in the postmodern (fluid) period and the influence of these changes on the identity of the journalists. I look at the transformation of the media landscape from a variety of perspectives - for example from a convergence point of view, which I describe not only as a technological process, but above all as a cultural change that created fluid boundaries between various channels and formats, between production and consumption, organizations or the extent of the user's involvement in media communication. This has put media professionals into a situation they have to deal with. After organizing the theoretical backgrounds, I can, in the practical part, focus on how the media landscape is perceived by the journalists themselves and how it affects them. Based on in-depth interviews with journalists from the Seznam Zprávy, I first show the changes that journalists consider important, and then describe how these changes have been adapted over time. In the next part of the research I follow their current perception of the profession - especially how they perceive the decline in prestige and credibility of the profession, or how they think about the future of the profession. Finally, in the last part I deal with traditional and...
Possibilities of content distribution on the example of Czech and foreign media
Hodboď, Vojtěch ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Jirků, Jan (referee)
My bachelor thesis Possible ways to promote and distribute content on the example of the chosen Czech and foreign media describes the current state of online and print media, what problems and challenges are they facing and what are the possible solutions to those. One of these problems is also the distribution and promotion of medial content. Media are more often forced to look for new ways of finding target readers for their content which is much more complicated nowadays, in online environment particularly, because the readers' behaviour is now changing. In the theoretical part I am trying to specify and name these problems; firstly by myself and then with the help of in-depth interviews with leading representatives of few chosen Czech media. I also dedicated one chapter to the description of a start-up called Trafica, to which I am also a co-founder. My resources were on the one hand literature, such as Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman or selection of Marshall McLuhan's work, but on the other hand I have used mostly online resources, which is due to the not properly examined subject of the thesis. The practical part is focused on two surveys. The respondents of the first survey are readers. In this survey I am trying to understand mostly their reading habits. In the second research I focus...
