Supporting multilingual pupils at the beginning of their schooling

In the diploma thesis, we focus on the topic Support of a multilingual student at the beginning of schooling. The aim of this diploma thesis is to systematically examine the issue of education of multilingual students at the beginning of schooling with an emphasis on integration, inclusion and legislative aspects. The work focuses on the analysis of the needs of these pupils, the support provided by schools and teachers, and evaluates the effectiveness of these measures. In the framework of the theoretical part of the work, key terms such as integration and inclusion, the characteristics of a foreign student, the needs of multilingual students at the beginning of schooling, and the legislative framework for the education of these students will be defined. Furthermore, the work will focus on the possibilities of how schools can provide support to multilingual students, and analyzes supporting language measures and pedagogical support. The empirical part will present the results of a case study that examines a specific student with a multilingual background, his educational environment and the measures provided by the school. Prevention of risky behavior of pupils in the Na dvorečku community elementary school

This diploma thesis focuses on the implementation of a preventive program at Na dvorečku elementary school. The goal of the work was to map the preventive activities of the school, their real impact on the pupils and to propose changes that will lead to an increase in the effectiveness of the implementation of the preventive program. In the research, we focused primarily on questions related to the school's preventive strategy, the methods the school uses to fulfill it, and the way the school determines the real impact of preventive activities on the student. The theoretical part deals with the prevention of risky behaviour of children in the Czech Republic. We describe the members and function of the school counseling workplace, types of risky behavior and outline this issue in terms of Czech legislation. We also describe the importance and creation of the school's preventive program, its goals and evaluation options. We dedicate a special chapter to the school climate. The History and Development of the Waldorf School in Prague in the Years 1990 - 2022

This diploma thesis deals with the historical context and reasons for the development of alternative education in Czechoslovakia after 1989, including legislative changes which enabled the implementation of alternative schools. The main focus is on the emergence of Waldorf schools, which are one type of education of the alternative reform movement. The aim of the thesis is to determine the motivation of the founders and to map the circumstances of the establishment of Waldorf schools in Czechoslovakia after 1989. Special attention is paid to the research of the establishment and development of the Waldorf school in Prague 4. The diploma thesis has the character of qualitative research. In order to fulfil the objectives, methods of analysis and synthesis have been applied during the examination of legislative and official documents as well as in the evaluation and comparison of interviews. Oral history methods, specifically interviews with eyewitnesses, have been employed to ascertain the authentic perspectives of the witnesses of the beginnings of Waldorf education in Czechoslovakia after 1989. Does the child hero change? The change of value orientation concerning a pupil of a younger school age.

The thesis focuses on the value orientation of the first grade student in search of behavioural patterns and his future direction. In the theoretical part, it defines the pupil from the perspective of developmental psychology, especially on briefly describing the development of thinking, perception, speech, emotional and social development and the evolution of oral reasoning. It describes the differences in the development and behaviour of girls and boys. It discusses value theory in general and in relation to pupils of primary school age. It focuses at the various influences which shape pupils and which may alter their decision-making. In the empirical part, it investigates by a questionnaire survey the pupil's preferences in search of a child hero, the pupil's value ranking and his moral attitudes. The questionnaire investigation is complemented by two classworks with one class, the first of which preceded the questionnaire investigation and the second of which complemented it. The empirical part concludes with a comparison of the results with those of previous surveys. The hypothesis that pupils would look for their behavioural patterns most in virtual environments was not confirmed. Project teaching method as a way to develop civic competences in the 1st grade of elementary school

The thesis deals with describing and arguing the conditions under which pupils initiate their own shift within project teaching. This complexityallows pupils to engage effectivelyin their own education and to shift their own competencies, above all civic ones, as well as social and personnel ones. The first part of the thesis describes project teaching as a whole, including its definition, individual types, advantages and disadvantages. This is followed by the legal anchoring of project teaching and curricular documents involved in project teaching. There is also discussed the subject of the pupil and his education journey. It also follows part of the thesis describingthe various phases of project development,including motivation, preparation as well as evaluation criteria. The second, practical part, focuses on action research. First, it asks research questions of research and formulates a goal. Similarly,it establishes appropriate methods by which it obtains relevant data. The researchis divided into three consecutive phases. This thesis deals with global development education and how it is implemented in the education of students in the first grade of primary school. The aim of the theoretical part is to define global issues and globalization, as well as related basic concepts, principles, and goals of global development education. This part contains a description of the current status of global education and focuses on the application of global education to education generally. It introduces international and Czech organizations working in this field and describes related documents. The next part is devoted to individual cross- cutting themes, key competences and their characterisation. It focuses on their close links to global education. Emphasis is placed on the areas that are developed in students and on the actual benefits of integrating global education into education. This diploma thesis deals with classroom management from the point of view of beginning teachers, graduates of the field of Teaching for the 1st grade of elementary school at the Faculty of Education at Charles University. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of the concept of classroom management. The second chapter considers the role of the teacher, the teacher's authority, its typology, the relationship between authority and education, and the importance of taking care of the teacher's mental health. The next chapter describes student discipline, possible causes od problém behavior, and methods of prevention or resolution. The following chapter on classroom climate analyzes the relationships that are formed in the school environment. It specifically explores the interaction between the teacher and the student, but also touches upon communication between students, and briefly discusses nonviolent communication. Interactive textbooks in classroom instruction

The presented thesis describes the use of interactive textbooks by selected primary school teachers in their teaching. In the theoretical part of the work, the development of textbooks is briefly outlined, followed by a short chapter on the history of interactive textbooks. Further chapters are devoted to a summary of the functionalities of interactive textbooks by selected publishers and of related technical equipment in schools. The theoretical part concludes with a look at the Bring Your Own Device system and the Future Classroom Lab concept in the context of interactive textbooks. The empirical part of the thesis describes the use of interactive textbooks in the process of teacher preparation for teaching, their work with tools, features and content in teaching itself. In the research investigation a qualitative approach was used, where the interview method was chosen. To better place the data in context, this method was supplemented by observations that took place in the teaching practice of individual teachers. The methodology of integrated Colorado potato beetle management in potatoes under new agro-environmental conditions

The aim of the certified methodology is to provide updated principles of effective integrated Colorado potato beetle management for the agricultural practice resulting from new findings on biology and population genetics in the situation, when the range of effective insecticides has been reduced, pest resistance to insecticides has been increased and agro ecological conditions have been changed. Colorado potato beetle is a very serious insect pest of potatoes, highly mobile and able to quickly develop insecticide resistance. The methodology was drawn up based on the newest findings on the efficacy of existing insecticides registered against Colorado potato beetle, taking into account newly acquired knowledge in the field of pest resistance to active ingredients and a necessity of ever increasing multiple applications.
