Dragon Festivities in the City of Trutnov

This bachelor's thesis deals with the founding legend of the city of Trutnov and its influence on the modern structure of the city and civic life. The work presents and describes the several variations of the local legend and traces how they differ from other founding legends of a similar type. Furthermore, it shows how the elements of this urban mythology are reflected in the realities of the city. It then focuses more closely on the symbol of the dragon and its role in various spheres of the city and the city's identity.

Perceiving the World Through Cosplay: the Czech View

The aim of my bachelor thesis is to determine what impact Czech cosplayers' activities have in relation to their efforts to blend in as closely as possible with a character from popular culture. To find out whether this cultural sub-genre is only an opportunity to dress up in the costume of one's chosen character and show it to someone else at one of the common meetings of other fans of these activities, which are regularly organized in the Czech Republic and around the world, or whether this phenomenon has a deeper and even spiritual meaning for its followers. The thesis focuses primarily on the analysis of the subjective experiences of some of the fans of this subculture, as well as the overlap of these activities in their personal lives. The bachelor thesis is mainly based on my observations of the so-called cosplayers during their activities. In the form of semi-structured interviews with respondents of different ages and levels of experience, it attempts to capture their inner experiences as faithfully as possible using the methodology of an ethnographic-anthropological approach.

Design of small reservoirs and flood protection

The diploma thesis deals with the design of the flood protection of the village Hrušky (Vyškov district). The hydraulic analysis of the water flow on the rivers Litava (river station km 19,460 - 20,928) and Rakovec (river station km 0,000 - 0,638) was done. The hydraulic analysis was performed on the Q5, Q20 and Q100 flows. For analysis was used a 2D numerical flow model in HEC-RAS 5.0.6. Based on results was designed a flood protection including a dry reservoir. The input data for the diploma thesis was the 2013 study „Litava II – přírodě blízká protipovodňová opatření a obnova přirozené hydromorfologie a retenční kapacity toku a nivy v úseku ř. km 16,0 (Újezd u Brna) až ř. km 24,0 (Slavkov u Brna)“. The diploma thesis was processed as a real project in the design office of Regioprojekt Brno, s.r.o.

The object of metropolitan significance on the street Benesova Brno

Design of a new metropolitan city hall located on the Brno ringstrasse concentrates all workplaces city government in one place, namely in the northern part of the embankment between Benešova and Koliště streets near the former customs building palace Moravia. The underlying assumption is the future transfer of the main station and the release of area for the park (today trackage) and other construction.

Perun in the Perspective of Comparative Method in Religious Studies

This bachelor thesis deals with the comparative methods of prominent scholars Friedrich Max Müller, Georges Dumézil and Mircea Eliade and the application of their theories to the Slavic god Perun. The thesis describes and analyzes the theories of these scholars and examines how they relate to Perun as interpreted in Slavic religion. As a result, the thesis compares and evaluates the methods of each scholar in order to show how these methods can contribute to a better understanding of the Slavic god Perun despite the lack of sources.
