Liquefaction of gaseous fuels and their storage by means of renewable energy resources
Cuřín, Martin ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
The liquefaction of gaseous fuels using renewable energy sources is a promising method for the efficient transportation and utilization of these fuels. This thesis primarily addresses the issues related to the liquefaction of natural gas, from its conditioning, liquefaction, to its storage and transportation. The economic balance evaluates three proposed scenarios for the transportation of natural gas to the Czech Republic. Additionally, the economic viability of using renewable energy sources for the liquefaction of natural gas is analysed. The aim of the thesis was to provide a basic overview of current liquefaction tech- nologies and to analyse the use of renewable energy in the process of liquefaction and seasonal storage of natural gas. The results indicate that the use of renewable sources for liquefaction can be economically advantageous and beneficial in the sustainability of the energy sector.
Optimization of the cockpit ventilation system of a small transport aircraft
Vícena, Ondřej ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Fišer, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the optimization of the cockpit ventilation system of a small transport aircraft. The current system does not allow the ECS system to function without activating the main engines, which limits its effectiveness in ground operations. The theoretical part provides a basic theoretical framework for understanding and evaluating the thermal comfort in the cockpit, including heat transfer modes, cabin microclimate during different operating modes, and the definition of fundamental concepts related to ECS in pressurized and non-pressurized cabins. The experimental part focuses on the extension of the system with a suitable electric motor fan to provide cabin air supply even during ground operations at the airport. It includes testing the thermal effect of the supplied untreated air on the human body using a thermal manikin and a cabin simulator. In addition, heat removal from the body surface and subjective thermal sensation at different airflows and outlet routing were investigated for ambient temperature.
Exhaust Temperature Stabilitation Systems for Turbocharged Engines
Böhm, Michael ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Vondrák, Adam (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
This paper describes the possibilities of reducing temperature pulsations in the exhaust manifold of an internal combustion engine. For this purpose, the concept of a heat reservoir with a phase change material that can store the heat generated in the exhaust manifold is chosen. At a temperature lower than the phase change temperature of this material, the heat storage is then able to transfer the heat back to the exhaust gas, thereby reducing the temperature pulsations. The actual design consists of an advanced heat storage design consisting of an assembly of smaller tubes that increase the heat output of the storage while causing minimal pressure drop in the exhaust manifold. This concept is validated and compared with a series engine without a stack through simulations in both 1D and 3D computing environments. The designed and constructed prototype stack is subjected to experimental testing to confirm its performance. The effects of the electrically assisted turbocharger on the exhaust gas temperature are also analyzed. Finally, all the results are summarized showing the overall potential of this system and a possible way forward in the development of these stacks with phase change materials is outlined.
Design of ventilation and cooling in a new-build terraced house
Petráš, Jan ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Pech, Ondřej (advisor)
The master thesis deals with the design of a terraced new building, in particular forced ven-tilation and cooling with partial independence on electricity from external distributors. The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical, which together contain 10 chapters on these topics. The thesis includes not only the design of ventilation and cooling, but also an energy-ethical simulation of the performance of both proposed systems, including the pro-duction of electricity. In the last chapter, attention is paid to the implementation and operat-ing costs of all the designed systems.
Heat storage in solar thermal systems
Mokriš, Lukáš ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
In this bachelor’s thesis are described methods of heat storage in solar thermal systems. Solar energy is retrieved in form of solar radiation, that is processed and stored in the form of sensible heat of solid materials and liquids, as heat of fusion of some material or as chemical heat, which is created during reversible chemical reactions.
Conversion efficiency of various means of electricity production from solar radiation
Wolf, Juraj ; Tuhovčák, Ján (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
The subject of bachelor thesis contains various methods of converting solar energy to electricity. This study analyzes their conversion efficiencies, potential growth and versatility. Considered technologies are photovoltaic and concentration solar system. Thesis reviews new trends for enhancing conversion efficiencies for both methods and evaluates their potential for future depending on their achieved efficiency, power output, maintenance requirements, climatic condition and demand for addition equipments needed for their application.
A demonstration lab for building ventilation
Kundrát, Roman ; Štětina, Josef (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
Objective of this thesis is the design of ventilation system for demonstration laboratory. Based on literature studies, experience and advice of experts is at work introduced the concept of design of ventilation equipment for laboratory, which will serve to demonstrate the air inlet into the room using different diffusers. Introduction of distribution elements for ventilation, priors the actual design of laboratory.
Design of Cooling and ventilation system in family house
Bíza, Michal ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Pech, Ondřej (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the design of ventilation and cooling for the family house. The first part of the thesis deals with possibilities of ventilation and cooling, air ducts and their components and selected ventilation units. The next part deals with the analysis of air-conditioning routes, their dimensions and pressure losses. Then the heat gain is determined, and cooling is proposed. The last part deals with the comparison of financial costs for purchase of all components for ventilation and cooling, assembly, installation and operating costs. The enclosed drawings and item lists are at the end of the thesis.
Airflow inside of a passenger car
Bělka, Miloslav ; Štětina, Josef (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with hearting, air-conditioning, air distribution and airflow in a cabin of a passenger car. Ventilation of the cabin is needed for acceptable level of indoor air quality. The air supplied into the cabin is conditioned by heating or air conditioning system in order to achieve an appropriate level of thermal comfort of the passengers. Various arrangements of automotive heating and air-conditioning systems are described in the thesis. The thesis also includes the description and results of a set of measurements of air temperatures and air velocities inside of a passenger car cabin.
Design of ventilation system in residental spaces
Břenek, Václav ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Pech, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with design of a ventilation system with recuperation in a chosen flat. The introductory chapter focuses on research of recuperation units and their parts. In the second chapter the required amount of ventilation air is determined, and three recuperation units are selected. In the third chapter the pipeline system is designed for the selected units, which is subjected to a control calculation of pressure losses. The last chapter compares the costs of implementation and operation of selected units.
