Changes of relief of the Dubňany town and its surroundings due to mining activity
Kirchner, Karel
In our geomorphological researches we are concentrated on the areas burdened by the economic activity – particularly by the mining. In these areas the distinct changes of relief occured, the influences of mining activities are also indicated in the period of mining depression. On the example of the Dubňany town (South Moravia, Dolnomoravský úval Graben ) we deal with the geomorphological aspects of landscape where for more than 170 year the lignit mining was located.
Euroregiony v České republice
Zapletalová, Jana
The need of collaboration between borderland regions in the solution of common issues occuring along the both sides of the state border induced as early as at the end of the 1950s a pressure to establish certain regional bilateral institutions as a tool of operative solution of these problems. The efforts resulted in the developement of so called „Euroregions“. The very firs Euroregion in the Czech republic (Nisa) came into exiwtence in 1991 after the fall of the „iron curtain“. Currently, there are 13 Euroregions established in Czechia, which stretch along the perimeeter of the wehole state border.
Great floods in the Ostrava region in 1902 and 1903
Munzar, Jan ; Ondráček, Stanislav
The region of Ostrava cannot be thought of without floods as there are several water courses flowing together on the Ostrava Basin bottom: Odra (Oder) R. and its tributaries Opava and Ostravice. Their confluence is one of the most important hydrological junctions in the Czech Republic. Observations on the Odra River in Bohumín indicate that the most severe flood disasters experienced by the region in the 20th century were floods occurring in July 1997 and in July 1903. Less known is the fact, however, that only a year before the extreme from the beginning of the last century, in June 1902, there were also irregular floods occurring in the Ostrava region, whose impact was even more severe on some water courses, namely on the Ostravice River, than in 1903. This earlier June flood apparently resulted in a lot more damage in the Ostrava industrial agglomeration than the case that happened one year later. Regarding the fact that the time gap between the big floods from the beginning of the 20th century and the recent flood event of 1997 is nearly 100 years, the two old disasters have been forgotten which is considered a loss of historical memory in the region.
Dwelling environment in the areas influenced by inhibition of underground mining
Kallabová, Eva ; Pokluda, František
The mosaic pattern is typical for the dwelling areas. 10 functional categories were separated during the field research in Ostrava region, which was seriously influenced by inhibition of underground mining. These categories were demarcated base on the similarity or the differences town-planning, building and others features, among others number of the floors, the building materials, spatial arrangement, way of using etc. and so with the goal to achieve their readability in the map. The smallest transcribed area in the map of the scale 1:50 000 was the area with extension 50x50 m in the reality. This article contents only a narrative attachment to the map. The original of the map is available in the library of Institute of Geonics Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno.
Slope deformations in north-eastern part of the Vizovická vrchovina (Highland) in Moravian-Slovakian Carpathians
Kirchner, Karel ; Hofírková, Sylvie ; Roštínský, Pavel
The contribution describes general characteristics of slope deformations within two sheets of Basic map of the Czech Republic in a scale 1:10 000, 25-32-25 and 25-32-24, in the central part of the Vizovická vrchovina (Highland) and in the area of the structural depresion between Vizovice and Bratřejov. The landslides are mostly situated in central parts of slopes of the main mountain ridge in places of abrupt change in surface inclination, where the thickness of weathering mantle increases markedly, and also in terminal parts of erosional depresions. Two deep-seated deformation called Mezné and Peklo are mentioned two.
Tectonic style of the SE margin of the Bohemian Massif in southern Moravia and northern Austria
Roštínský, Pavel
The contribution deals with geotectonic position, tectonic configuration and general geomorphology of the south-western section of the marginal part of the Bohemian Massif. The 100 km long marginal flank is formed by the regionally important linear Diendorf fault system of Paleozoic age. During Cenozoic, this old tectonic area was reactivated in transtensile regime as a one of zones compensating different movements between the Eastern Alps and Western Carpathians. Thus, from a kinematic point of view, it can be regarded as a component of the Alpine orogen.
Modelling of the mining induced seismicity impact on the surface structures using Plaxis computing system
Hrubešová, E. ; Kaláb, Zdeněk
The excavated coal deposits in the Karviná mine district are situated close to the surface structures and this excavation can be manifested into the macroseismic effects on the surface. These effects can cause the troublesome physiological feeling of inhabitants and optionally, the defects of the building. In this paper there are presented the initial results of the seismic response modelling for the surface objects subjected to the mining seismicity. For the modelling the numerical system Plaxis (Holland) based on the FEM was used.
Changes of ultrasonic wave velocity in the process of deformation
Kožušníková, Alena ; Konečný, Pavel ; Chmelová, J.
Ultrasonic wave velocity is physical parameter reflective character of discontinuities in material. Paper represents measurement of ultrasonic wave velocity changes in the process of deformation of rock specimens. There were various types of loading modes: uniaxial or triaxial state of stress, with constant or with the increasing confining pressure, with or without strength failure of specimen. The other physical parameters (permeability, strain) were measured except ultrasonic wave velocity. The results were compared from view of ability to reflect the changes in material in the process of deformation. The tested specimens were analysed by computer tomography to obtain the spatial localisation of discontinuities before and after the tests.
