Abstrakt Práce si klade za cíl zjistit, zda oligopolní typ tržní struktury zdražuje bankovní produkty. Vztah mezi typem tržní struktury a ziskovosti bankovních institucí na vybraných trzích střední a východní Evropy byl odhadnut pomocí P-R modelu, který byl rozšířen o regulaci jednotlivých bankovních trhů. V práci byla analyzována data z období roku 2008, která vykazují specifický charakter, neboť se v tomto období finanční instituce potýkaly s tzv. bankovní krizí. Práce sleduje běžné významné vlivy, které mají dopad na ziskovost bank. Ve druhé části byly porovnány typy tržních struktur, které byly odhadnuty za použití P-R modelu a HHI. Z diskuse vyplynulo, že rozpory jednotlivých výstupů modelů byly zapříčiněny vymezením relevantního trhu a množstvím analyzovaných subjektů, proto je vhodné používat P-R model pro rozsáhlé datové soubory bez ohledu na velikost relevantního trhu, naopak HHI vyžaduje přesnou a úzkou specifikaci relevantního trhu. P-R model odhaduje analyzovanou oblast jako oligopolní, ve kterém regulace nemá významný vliv na ziskovost jednotlivých bank. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether oligopolistic market structure causes banking services prices to rise. The relation between the market structure and the profitability of banking institutions on selected markets in Central Europe and Eastern Europe was tested using P-R model, which was extended for the regulation variable. This study analyzed dataset from the period of 2008, which shows a specific character because in this period of financial institutions faced with so-call Banking Depression. The paper follows the current major factors that influencing banks' profit. In the second part, were compared the types of market structures, which were estimated using P-R model and HHI. The discussion showed the differences of model output seem to be a result of the definition of the relevant market and a number of analyzed subjects. It is appropriate to apply P-R model on large data files regardless of the size market. While the HHI and requires a precise specification of the market. P-R model estimates the analyzed region as oligopolistic in which the regulation has a significant impact on the individual banks' profit.
