Práce zkoumá závislost mezi mírou agresivity ve společnosti a počtem silničních nehod v zemi na datech v letech 2004 až 2008 ve státech Evropské unie. Jsou popsány socioekonomické determinanty vysvětlující násilné chování ve společnosti a míru agresivity jednotlivců (řidičů) a míru agresivity na úrovni společnosti. Poté je provedena regresní analýza metodou fixních efektů, která potvrzuje pozitivní vztah mezi mírou agresivity měřenou počtem vražd, počtem vloupání a počtem obětí silničních nehod. Dalšími významnými determinanty byly vyhodnoceny vývoj HDP, velikost daňové kvóty, míra nezaměstnanosti, počet lékařů, poměr mladých v populaci, spotřeba alkoholu, používání bezpečnostních pásů a počet pasažér-kilometrů. V práci je nato diskutován mechanismus jejich působení na míru smrtelných silničních nehod. Odhadnuté výsledky posloužily ke zformování doporučeních pro snížení počtu obětí silničních nehod. The thesis analyses the relationship between level of aggressiveness in society and number of road fatalities using data from the states of European union from 2004 to 2008. It describes socioeconomic determinants that explain violent behavior in countries and than focuses on individual rate of aggressiveness and rate of aggressiveness in society. Regression analysis is made by fixed effects method after that. The analysis confirms positive relationship between rate of aggressiveness in society (measured by homicide rate and number of housebreaking) and number of road fatalities. Others significant variables were evaluated GDP growth, tax ratio amount, unemployment rate, number of doctors, young people ratio, alcohol consumption, seat belt using and number of passenger-kilometers in country. The mechanism of their effect on road fatalities rate is discussed. Estimated results were used to formulation of recommendation for reduce number of road fatalities.
