Tato bakalářská práce si klade za cíl rozbor příčin hypoteční krize ve Spojených státech a příčin kolapsu finančních trhů v letech 2007-2008. Nemluvíme o pouhém krachu trhů, ale i o "krachu" ideálů a nadějí vkládaných do nových metod, které přineslo období tzv. Great Moderation. Toto hořké procitnutí v podobě pádu cen nemovitostí a následném pádu burzovních indexů v letech 2007 -- 2008 rozpoutalo dodnes probíhající debatu o příčinách tohoto mohutného kolapsu a o tom, zda se mu přeci jen nedalo předejít. Tato práce podrobněji analyzuje tři oblasti, mající ve svém důsledku nezanedbatelný vliv na samotné propuknutí a průběh hypoteční a potažmo finanční krize. Jsou jimi hospodářsko-politická rozhodnutí, psychologie vytrvalého růstu a vznik tzv. toxických aktiv. Společně s analýzou monetární politiky FEDu a aplikací teorie morálního hazardu dále zjišťuje, jaké byly specifické příčiny kolapsu a zda je možné nalézt absolutního viníka, či zda ve skutečnosti šlo o simultánní působení více na sobě nezávislých faktorů. The major goal of this work is to conduct a careful analysis of the 2007 -- 2008 mortgage crises, with focus on both the United States financial and mortgage markets. The actual 2007 -- 2008 collapse wasn't only a typical market crash. It was also a "collapse" of ideals and new methods that came to life particularly during the times of the Great Moderation. In this work I further examine three particular issues. These are: economic and political decisions, the psychology of continuous and sustainable growth and the creation of so called toxic assets. Also in tandem to and related with a monetary policy and moral hazard analysis, I try to fully comprehend the actual market bust of the late 2000s. The purpose of my analysis is then finding out if there was a single cause of the market crash of 2007 -- 2008 or if there actually were multiple factors leading to the slump.
