Karel Klostermann patřil ve své době k mimořádně populárním spisovatelům. Jeho úspěch u čtenářů byl založen mimo jiné na promyšlených publikačních a obchodních strategiích, které sdílel a rozvíjel se svým výhradním nakladatelem J. R. Vilímkem. Příspěvek ukazuje, v čem tyto strategie spočívaly, jaký segment čtenářů zasahovaly a nakolik z nich autor i nakladatel profitovali. Studie materiálově čerpá z bohaté korespondence mezi Klostermannem a Vilímkem uložené v Archivu města Plzně. Karel Klostermann was one of the most popular writers of his time. One reason for his success with readers has to do with his careful publishing and business strategies, which he shared and developed with his exclusive publisher, Josef Richard Vilímek. This article aims to better understand these strategies, who among the general readership they reached, and how the author and publisher profited from them. It draws material from the rich correspondence between Klostermann and Vilímek stored in the Pilsen City Archives.
