eng Abstract:
A novel type of atmospheric pressure plasma discharge was developed to serve as hydride atomizer derived from the shape of the quartz body of a conventional quartz tube atomizer used in AAS. However, instead of resistive heating of the optical arm, two electrodes were inserted in its central part to sustain an APGD-like discharge (0.5 kV, 30 mA). Atomization of As, Se and Sb hydrides was optimized. Its performance is comparable to that of QTA or DBD atomizers.
