The method of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics is applied to the phenomenon of mountain waves - atmospheric internal gravity waves generated by flows over topogra- phy. General aspects of the method and the alternative derivations of the theory using Hamiltonian continuum mechanics are discussed. The basic explanation of the physical mechanisms that generate the internal gravity waves and the review of the current state of the numerical simulation of the matter are provided. A code in the Julia programming language is written to simulate the phenomenon of mountain waves using the symplec- ticity of the SPH equations by utilizing a symplectic integrator. The results obtained are compared to those from the literature, and the applicability of the SPH method in meteorology is also discussed. 1 Numerická metoda Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics je aplikována na zkoumání fenoménu atmosférických vnitřních gravitační vln generovaných při proudění přes horský terén. Kromě obecných aspektů této metody je v text uvedeno alternativní odvození řidicích rovnic pomocí Hamiltonovské formulace mechaniky kontinua. Základní fyzikální podstata vzniku vnitřních gravitačních vln je doplněna přehledem současného stavu nu- merických simulací atmosférických gravitačních vln. Kód simulací je napsán v pro- gramovacím jazyce Julia a při implementaci je využito symplektičnosti SPH rovnic v podobě použití symplektického integrátoru. Získané výsledky jsou porovnány s dostup- nou literaturou a závěr je věnován diskuzi použití metody SPH v kontextu meteorologie. 1
