Předkládaná diplomová práce se věnuje významné osobnosti českých dějin první poloviny 14. století, Janu Volkovi (kol. 1290-1351), nemanželskému synu krále Václava II. Tematicky navazuje na autorovu bakalářskou práci, která se zabývala vybranými aspekty ze života a z aktivit tohoto Přemyslovce do roku 1334. Cílem této práce je zhodnotit a analyzovat Volkovy aktivity v roli olomouckého biskupa, a to jak uvnitř diecéze, tak i mimo ni. V kontextu tohoto cíle se práce zaměřuje i na působení Jana Volka v oblasti reprezentace a mecenášství. Zvláštní důraz je kladen na založení benediktinského kláštera v Pustiměři. Dalším tématem práce je pokus o zasazení Jana Volka do kontextu dalších Přemyslovců působících v první polovině 14. století. Speciální pozornost je kladena na vztah mezi Janem Volkem a Eliškou Přemyslovnou a Mikulášem II. Opavským. The presented master's thesis focuses on a significant figure in Czech history from the first half of the 14th century, Jan Volek (approx. 1290-1351), the illegitimate son of King Wenceslaus II. Thematically, it follows the author's bachelor's thesis, which dealt with selected aspects of the life and activities of this Přemyslid until the year 1334. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate and analyze Volek's activities in his role as the Bishop of Olomouc, both within and outside the diocese. In the context of this goal, the work also focuses on Jan Volek's influence in the areas of representation and the patronage of the arts. Special emphasis is placed on the founding of the Benedictine monastery in Pustiměř. Another theme of the thesis is an attempt to place Jan Volek in the context of other Přemyslids active in the first half of the 14th century. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between Jan Volek and Elisabeth of Bohemia and Nicholas II of Opava.
