Témou diplomovej práce je architektonická štúdia velodromu v Brne. Stávajúci štadión pre dráhovú cyklistiku zahŕňa pravdepodobne najstaršiu dodnes používanú dráhu v Európe. Návrh sa zaoberá aktualizáciou velodromu na súčasné olympijské parametre a štandardy. Cieľom je vytvoriť vhodný, funkčný a estetický priestor pre športovcov, divákov aj okoloidúcich a upriamiť pozornosť na cyklistický klub TJ Favorit Brno a cyklistiku, ktorá má v Brne vyše 100-ročnú tradíciu. Návrh ponecháva stávajúcu 400 m dlhú cyklistickú dráhu aj s jej unikátnym zastrešením od profesora architekta Lederera, ktoré presahuje nad dráhu aj tribúnu a tvorí genius loci brnenského velodromu. Do vnútra dlhšej dráhy sa umiestni 250 m dlhá dráha vyhovujúca olympijským požiadavkám. V nej je priestor pre rôzne loptové kolektívne športy. Vo veľkom ovále je multifunkčná plocha napr. pre montovanú dráhu pre bikros. Dráhy sú v rôznych výškových úrovniach a s okolitými stavbami sú prepojené. Hlavnou myšlienkou projektu je zastrešiť ovál bez stĺpov vo vnútri, a tak zachovať jeho genius loci. Zastrešenie hlavného priestoru je riešené pomocou predpätých oceľových lán ukotvených ku priestorovej priehradovej konštrukcii nad súčasnými aj novými objektmi pozdĺž priamych strán dráhy. Pri zaoblených častiach dráhy sú laná ukotvené do železobetónovej steny. Podporná konštrukcia pre membránovú strešnú krytinu je z karbonu, ktorý sa vďaka svojej nízkej hmotnosti a skvelým technickým vlastnostiam využíva na výrobu bicyklov. Dnešná budova telocvične a hlavná budova cyklistického klubu TJ Favorit Brno, kde je zázemie pre dráhovú cyklistiku budú zachované. Nadviažu na ne prístavby so zázemím pre verejnosť, športovcov venujúcich sa cyklistike, kaviarňou, servisom, požičovňou a predajňou, administratívou aj priestormi pre technológie. Pred hlavným vstupom je verejný priestor so zeleňou a vodným prvkom vítajúci okoloidúcich. Navrhované budovy lemujú stávajúci štadión z troch strán. Sú prevažne dvojpodlažné.
The main topic of the master’s thesis is an architectural study of the velodrome in Brno, the Czech Republic. Nowadays, the existing stadium includes probably the oldest cycling track which is still in use in the whole Europe. Design deals with updating the old velodrome to current Olympic parametres and standards. The goal is to create a suitable, functional, and aesthetic space for athletes and passers-by and also to draw attention to cycling club TJ Favorit Brno, which has over 100-years tradition in the city. The new design keeps the existing 400-metre-long cycling track with its unique roof done by prof. arch. Lederer. Roof is extended above the track and the tribune, which forms the “genius loci“ of the Brno velodrome. A 250-metre-long track meeting the Olympic standards will be placed inside the longer track. Inside of it, there is space for various collective ball sports pitches. In the large oval, there is a multifunctional area, e.g., for a built track for bicross. The runways are at different height levels and are connected to the surrounding buildings. The main idea of the project is to cover the oval without pillars inside, thus keeping its genius loci. The structure of the roof above the main space is made of steel cables joining 3D steel structure above both the existing and new buildings near the straight parts of the track. Near the rounded parts of the track, the ropes are anchored into reinforced concrete walls. The supporting structure for membrane roof covering is made of carbon, which has excellent technical properties; due to its low weight, it is also used for the production of bicycles. The current building of the gymnasium and the main building of the TJ Favorit Brno cycling club, where there is a track cycling facility, will be preserved. They will be followed by outbuildings with facilities for the public, cycling athletes, a café, service, rental and shop, administration and technology spaces. In front of the main entrance, there is a public space with greenery and a water feature welcoming passers-by. Designed buildings surround the current stadium on three sides. Buildings mostly have two storeys.
