Bakalářská práce se věnuje společenským funkcím městských kaváren v postmoderní společnosti. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část práce vymezuje koncept kavárenského zařízení ve veřejném prostoru, v historickém kontextu i v současném postmoderním městě, s důrazem na všudypřítomný vliv digitálních technologií. V neposlední řadě představuje teorii třetího místa od Raye Oldenburga v propojení s městskými kavárnami. V praktické části práce je kvalitativním šetřením proveden výzkum, který je analyzován metodou zakotvené teorie a jehož výsledkem je šest funkcí pražských kavárenských zařízení v dnešním postmoderním městě. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of the café in public space, in the historical context and in the contemporary postmodern city, with an emphasis on the ubiquitous influence of digital technologies. Finally, it presents Ray Oldenburg's theory of the third place in relation to urban cafés. In the practical part of the thesis, qualitative research is conducted and analysed using the grounded theory method, resulting in six functions of Prague cafés in today's postmodern city.
