V roce 2015 bylo Radou genetických zdrojů odsouhlaseno rozšíření kolekcí genetických zdrojů Národního programu genetických zdrojů Rostlin o rody Hemerocallis (denivka) a Paeonia (pivoňka). Kromě výběru rostlin, vhodných pro zařazení do Národního programu, jsme začali postupně ve spolupráci se studenty Katedry zahradnictví FAPPZ České zemědělské univerzity v Praze připravovat klasifikátory pro tyto rody. Klasifikátor měl umožnit popis jak botanických znaků planých druhů, protože plané druhy pivoněk a denivek jsou rostliny LAKR a je tedy vhodné je zařadit do Národního programu, tak i pokročilých zahradních okrasných odrůd. Současně se ukázalo, že námi používaný klasifikátor pro kosatce je koncipovaný především pro kosatce s kartáčky (Iris subgen. Iris). Během posledních dvaceti let se však čeští šlechtitelé začali specializovat i na další skupiny kosatců, především na kosatce sibiřské, japonské a kosatce skupiny Spuriae, které nemají na vnějších okvětních lístcích kartáček chlupů a také v dalších znacích se od-lišují od podrodu Iris. Proto jsme se rozhodli rozšířit stávající klasifikátor tak, aby postihl celou šíři rodu s výjimkou cibulnatých kosatců. In 2015, the Council of Plants Genetic Resources agreed to include genus Hemerocallis (daylily) and genus Paeonia (peony) into the collections of genetic resources of the National Program. In addition to the selection of plants suitable for the National Program, we started to prepare descriptor lists for these genera in cooperation with students of the Department of Horticulture Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources Czech University of Life Science, Prague. The descriptor list was supposed to cover botanical characteristics of wild species as well as the advanced garden ornamental varieties, because the species of peonies and daylilieas are medicinal plants and it is therefore appropriate to incorporate them in the National Program. At the same time, it turned out that the descriptor list used for Iris is intended primarily for bearded irises (Iris subgen. Iris). However, in the last twenty years, the Czech breeders have specialized also in other groups of irises, especially in Siberian and Japanese irises and Spuria group, which don’t have any beard on outer tepals and have other differerent characteristics from the subgenus Iris. Therefore, we have decided to extend the existing descriptor list to cover the whole genus except bulb irises.
