Knižní sága o Harrym Potterovi od britské autorky J. K. Rowling se brzy po jejím vydání stala celosvětovým fenoménem. S rostoucí popularitou na přelomu tisíciletí se začala formovat fanouškovská základna, jejíž řady se rozšiřovaly i v návaznosti na filmové zpracování díla, ke kterému došlo nedlouho poté. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na současné mladé české fanoušky Harryho Pottera, zástupce tzv. generace Z a jejich participaci v rámci fandomu tohoto díla na sociální síti Instagram. Cílem práce, teoreticky vycházející primárně z fandom studies, je zodpovědět otázky, jakým způsobem se generace Z dostává ke světu Harryho Pottera, jaké pro ně nese významy, jaké jsou motivace pro jejich participaci na fandomu a jakou má tato participace podobu. Výzkum vychází z dat získaných prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s českými fanoušky Harryho Pottera, kteří se identifikují s generací Z, jsou narozeni v rámci určité generační kohorty (od druhé poloviny devadesátých let dvacátého století po konec prvního desetiletí nového století) a participují na sociální síti Instagram. Dále v průběhu dubna 2023 proběhlo zúčastněné pozorování ve Velké Británii. Výsledky výzkumu přinášejí zjištění, že fanoušci, kteří se identifikují s generací Z, byli s fikčním světem Harryho Pottera seznámeni již v útlém věku a v... The Harry Potter saga by the British author J. K. Rowling became a worldwide phenomenon soon after its publication. As its popularity grew at the turn of the millennium, a fan base began to form, and its ranks expanded in the wake of the film adaptation that followed not long after. The thesis focuses on contemporary young Czech fans of Harry Potter, representatives of the so-called Generation Z, and their participation in the fandom of this work on the social network Instagram. The aim of the thesis, theoretically based primarily on fandom studies, is to answer the questions of how Generation Z comes to the world of Harry Potter, what meanings it holds for them, what the motivations for their participation in the fandom are, and what form this participation takes. The research is based on data collected through semi-structured interviews with Czech Harry Potter fans who self-identify as Generation Z, were born within a certain generational cohort (from the second half of the 1990s to the end of the first decade of the new century), and participate on the social network Instagram. Furthermore, participant observation in Great Britain was conducted during April 2023.
