Odtok v polárních oblastech je výrazně ovlivněn zvyšující se teplotou vzduchu, protože oproti ostatním oblastem světa zaznamenáváme v polárních oblastech největší nárůst teploty vzduchu. Zvyšující se teploty vzduchu ovlivňují permafrost, sněhovou pokrývku a ledovce, což jsou hlavní složky, které tvoří odtok v oblastech s vysokými zeměpisnými šířkami. Zároveň díky oteplování dochází k přeměně srážek z tuhých (sněhových) na kapalné (dešťové) a mění se jejich roční úhrn a prostorové rozložení. Při zmenšení rozsahu sněhové pokrývky a ledu je zásadně ovlivněna energetická bilance zemského povrchu, protože se sníží albedo, což zapříčiní další oteplení zemského povrchu. Z tohoto důvodu vedou změny v rozsahu sněhové pokrývky a ledu k zásadní pozitivní zpětné vazbě v klimatickém cyklu. V této studii byla analyzována meteorologická a hydrologická data naměřená na ostrově Jamese Rosse z období polárního léta roku 2018. Měření meteorologických dat probíhalo v osmi automatických meteorologických stanicích, měření hydrologických dat se provádělo u sedmi povodí. V této práci byla však analýza zaměřená na dvě vybraná povodí, a to na částečně zaledněné povodí Triangular a na povodí Bohemian, které je bez vlivu ledovce. Runoff in polar areas is strongly influenced by rising air temperature because these regions experience the largest air temperature increases in the world. Rising air temperatures affect permafrost, snow cover and glaciers which are the main components of runoff in high latitude regions. Warming is also causing the shift in precipitation phase from solid (snow) to liquid (rain) as well as changes in annual precipitation its distribution. With reducing extent of the snow and ice cover, the energy balance of the Earth's surface is fundamentally affected as the albedo is reduced, which leads to further warming of the Earth's surface. Changes in snow and ice cover lead to significant positive feedback loops in the climate cycle. This study includes analyses of meteorological and hydrological data measured in James Ross Island during the 2018 austral summer. Meteorological data were measured at eight automatic weather stations, and hydrological data were measured in seven catchments. However, in this thesis the analyses are focused on two selected catchments: the partly glaciated Triangular and the glacier-free Bohemian catchments.
