Vliv Dostoievského v díle Pía Barojy

(English) This master's thesis examines the work of two great authors in the history of literature: Fyodor Dostoievsky and Pío Baroja. The thesis focuses on the interpretation and investigation of the philosophical ideas and the artistic technique of the writers. Pío Baroja describes the novel as a protean and open genre that combines philosophy, psychology, adventure, utopia, and epic. Through a comparative analysis, we will trace the parallels that exist in the work of the two writers and some aspects and characteristics that distinguish their ideas. Along with the themes, common elements and significant peculiarities of the works of both writers will be presented, such as main and secondary characters, heroes and anti-heroes, place where the story takes place and atmosphere, as well as plot and narrative elements. In addition, the present work will investigate the characteristic literary motives of both authors. Among them, the following topics should be highlighted: individual struggle, social conflict and social exclusion, existential anthropology, melancholy, pain, ethics and moral judgment.
