5 ABSTRAKT Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou kvality života lidí s mentálním postižením (retardací) v České republice. Uvedenou tématiku zkoumá z mnoha úhlů pohledu. Začíná legislativními předpisy, které zahrnují jednotlivé oblasti a ze kterých vyplývá, že v žádném předpisu ani zákonu daná problematika není řešena uceleně, ale pouze po částech. Pro lepší pochopení úskalí, které sebou přináší mentální postižení je v práci zahrnutá i část, která se zabývá vysvětlením pojmu mentální retardace a její klasifikací, tj. rozdělení do jednotlivých stupňů. Oblasti, kterými se práce zabývá, jsou zařazení mentálně postižených lidí do vzdělávacího systému, včetně speciálních škol, jejich následné uplatnění na pracovním trhu, možnosti bydlení, kde je zdůrazněný pozitivní trend přechodu od institualizace k individuálnímu přístupu, oblast volnočasových aktivit. Diplomová práce ale neopomíjí ani citlivá a i v dnešní době hodně kontroverzní témata jako sexualita, mateřství (rodičovství) či násilí páchané na lidech s mentálním postižením. Pro lepší práci s lidmi s mentálním postižením byly vypracovány metody sociální práce, které zvláště pracovníkům v sociální oblasti, pomáhají lépe uchopit práci s konkrétním člověkem (klientem). Dále se práce věnuje i nevládním neziskovým organizacím, které hrají důležitou roli v péči... 5 Abstract The main focus of this diploma thesis is the quality of mentally challenged people's life in the Czech Republic. The quality of their life is being analyzed from various perspectives. The thesis begins with legislation which includes individual spheres from where it's clear that this issue isn't in any law nor regulation comprehensive, but it's included only partly. The explanation and classification of retardation is included for better understanding. The main spheres of focus are following: enrollment of mentally challenged people into education including special schools followed by an assertation on the work market, housing options (especially the positive trend of transition from institutional to individual approach), leisure activities. The thesis includes sensitive topics such as sexual life, motherhood (parenthood) or violence against mentally challenged people as well. Special social work-related methods haven been developed for better cooperation between workers and mentally challenged clients. The thesis also aims on the role of non-governmental non- profit corporations which play a significant role in the work with mentally challenged people.
