Diplomová práce se zabývá alternate reality games a jejími hráči. Tyto hry se vyznačují specifickou formou vyprávění tzv. transmediálním vyprávěním. S jeho pomocí je děj hry rozdělen do mnoha menších částí a k hráčům se tak dostává v podobě různých mediálních forem prostřednictvím rozmanitých platforem. Ve střípcích příběhu se ukrývají různé hádanky či šifry, které musí hráči vyřešit. Podobné úkoly vyžadují určitou míru spolupráce mezi účastníky, a tak se k nim běžně utváří hráčské komunity. V současnosti k zapojení do hry hráči většinou potřebují jen libovolné chytré zařízení a připojení k internetu. Cílem diplomové práce je prozkoumat, zda a jak mohou tyto hry hráče ovlivnit v jejich každodenních životech, blíže představit komunity, které v průběhu her vznikají, a odhalit komunikační praxe jejích členů. V neposlední řadě je záměrem také přiblížení rolí, jež hráči v průběhu her zaujímají, a představení významu, který spatřují ve využití transmediálního vyprávění pro účely alternate reality games. Hráči odhalují, že tyto hry mohou mít na jejich životy jak pozitivní, tak negativní dopad, ačkoli pozitiva, která představují, výrazně převažují negativa. Hráčské komunity mají dvě hlavní funkce, jimiž je socializace a týmová práce. Tyto komunity mohou mít různé podoby a hráči v nich zaujímají různé... The thesis examines alternate reality games and their players. These games are distinguished by a specific form of narration called transmedia storytelling. This type of storytelling divides the game plot into many smaller pieces. Those reach players in the form of different media formats and through various media platforms. There are various puzzles and ciphers hidden within the snippets of the story. Players must solve them in hopes of getting along with the storyline. These tasks require a certain degree of cooperation between the participants, which commonly results in the formation of gaming communities. Players usually need only a smart device and an internet connection to be able to join the experience. The thesis aims to examine whether and how these games affect players in their daily lives, introduce the communities that arise during the games, and reveal the communication practices of its members. Finally, the thesis presents the roles that players take on themselves during the games and it shows the importance they see in the use of transmedia storytelling within alternate reality games. These games can have both positive and negative impacts on players' daily lives, although the represented positives outweigh the negatives.
