Celkovou druhovou rozmanitost na jakémkoliv místě na Zemi se nám nikdy nepodaří uspokojivě podchytit. V praxi ji odhadujeme pouze na základě znalosti druhové bohatosti několika málo taxonů. Typicky se jedná o dobře pozorovatelné skupiny, jejichž diverzitu známe a jsme schopni ji na daném místě snadněji odhadnout (typicky vyšší rostliny, motýli, velcí brouci, ptáci). V první části práce představuji základní koncepty pojetí takovýchto druhů z hlediska ochrany biodiverzity - deštníkové druhy, indikační druhy, vlajkové druhy, zástupné druhy (surrogates). Druhá část práce je zaměřena na využití zástupných druhů v praxi. Snažím se hledat shodu v druhové diverzitě různých taxonů i ekologických skupin v nelesních biotopech. Zároveň diskutuji práce zabývající se evaluací výše zmíněných druhových konceptů v ochranářské praxi. V poslední části se pak zabývám vlivem cílených managementových zásahů v nelesních biotopech na různé taxonomické skupiny organismů. Generally, we use only several surrogate taxa for predicting of species diversity of other groups. Typically, these surrogates are represented by well observable and conspicuous organisms (e.g. plants, butterflies, large beetles, birds). The first part of my theses presents the basic insight in the species concepts used in biodiversity conservation - umbrella, indicator, flagship, and surrogate species. The second part focuses on the use of these concepts in practice. I discuss the conclusion of studies that focus on evaluation of species concepts in biodiversity conservation, with a special regard on non-forest habitats. In the last chapter, I deal with the impact of management practices in non-forest habitats on different taxa of organisms.
