Riziko úmrtí ve spojitosti s kardiovaskulárními onemocněními je zvýšeno během zimních měsíců a vystavením organismu akutnímu chladovému stresu. V poslední době se však ukazuje, že některé modely chladové aklimace mohou působit kardioprotektivně. Práce se zabývá vlivem akutní a chronické chladové aklimace na mitochondriální bobtnání srdce potkana. Mitochondriální bobtnání je mj. způsobeno větším vtokem Ca2+ do mitochondrií především během ischemicko-reperfúzního poškození. Tím se otevírá mitochondriální pór přechodné propustnosti, což může vyústit v prasknutí mitochondrií, a způsobit buněčnou smrt. Nižší míra mitochondriálního bobtnání pak poukazuje na větší odolnost mitochondrií. Výsledky práce ukazují snížené mitochondriální bobtnání po akutní chladové expozici i chronické chladové aklimaci. However, several studies have suggested that some cold acclimation models could act cardioprotectively. The thesis is focused on effects of acute and chronic cold acclimation on swelling of rat heart mitochondria. Mitochondrial swelling is, besides other things, caused by massive influx of Ca2+ into the mitochondria especially during ischemia-reperfusion injury. By that, mitochondria permeability transition pore is being opened and subsequently, this could end up in mitochondrial burst and cell death, eventually. Lower rate of mitochondrial swelling indicates greater mitochondrial resistance. The results express higher mitochondrial resistance after acute cold exposure and chronic cold acclimation.
