Práce se zabývá symbolikou stromů ve Starém zákoně s přihlédnutím k mytologii starověkého Předního východu, a to s využitím příslušné literatury, konkordančního průzkumu a synchronní a diachronní analýzy biblických textů. Klade si za cíl být průřezem nejdůležitějších aspektů výskytu stromů v Písmu, a to v doslovném i přeneseném slova smyslu. Na základě práce s biblickými a předovýchodními mytologickými texty představuje strom jako obecně srozumitelný symbol s širokou vypovídací schopností, která tvoří jeho potenciál pojmout do sebe i ta nejsložitější poselství zvěsti Písma a všelidské situace vůbec. This work deals with the symbolism of trees in the Old Testament considering the mythology of the ancient Near East, using relevant literature, concordant exploration, and synchronic and diachronic analyses of biblical texts. It aims to present an intersection of the most important aspects of the appearance of trees in the Scripture, both in a literal and figurative sense. Drawing on work with biblical and mythological texts from the ancient Near East, it presents the tree as a comprehensible symbol with strong explanatory power, which constitutes its potential to contain even the most complex messages of the Scripture and of the human condition as such.
