Tato práce se zabývá vývojem vnitřních i vnějších britských politických vztahů po druhé světové válce, které vyústily v uspořádání akce s názvem Festival of Britain z roku 1951. Festival měl sloužit jako povzbuzení pro britskou veřejnost a měl ukázat historii a kulturní dědictví Spojeného království a britského impéria. Tato práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První z nich se zabývá světovým poválečným vývojem ve světě, jeho reorganizaci během studené války a také procesem dekolonizace britského impéria. Druhá kapitola se věnuje britskému politickému vývoji v období od konce druhé světové války do roku 1951, ve kterém se konal Festival of Britain. Popisuje především snahu labouristické vlády o vytvoření sociálního státu ve Velké Británii pomocí sociálních reforem. Třetí kapitola je již zaměřena na popis a analýzu samotného Festivalu of Britain. The Festival was aimed to be a distraction for the British public and a remainder of the great history and cultural heritage of the United Kingdom and the British Empire. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first one deals with the post-war development in the world, its reorganization into the Cold War, and the process of decolonization. The second chapter is focused on domestic political reforms, especially social reforms, of the Labour Party between 1945 and 1951.
