The bachelor thesis "The establishment and development of the Ciudadanos Party" focuses on the operation, programme and communication of the Spanish political party Ciudadanos- Partido de la Ciudadanía. The thesis examines the values of the party and their influence on policy-creating, and the shifts in the party's political programme since its foundation until the Spanish parliamentary election of 2019. The research question of the thesis is: "Can the Ciudadanos party be considered liberal based on its values and programme?" The other objective of this thesis includes tracing the establishment and development of Ciudadanos with concentration on its expansion from local Catalonian to nation-wide party, and the party's political communication. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to theoretical approaches to studying political parties. The thesis works with the familles spirituelles ('party families') theory, first and foremost with the concept of liberal family, which it also defines based on ideology and programme. The analytical part of the work is divided in two chapters: content- analysis of the founding and initial documents of the party; content-analysis of the communication of the party with potential voters, the primary topics of the party's communication and the alterations in the... Bakalárska práca Vznik a vývoj politickej strany Ciudadanos sa zaoberá činnosťou, programom a politickou komunikáciou španielskej strany Ciudadanos-Partido de la Ciudadanía, jej hodnotovými východiskami pri tvorbe politík a ich premenami od vzniku strany až po parlamentné voľby v Španielsku v roku 2019 a prevažne na ich základe zisťuje, či a do akej miery môžeme politickú stranu Ciudadanos označiť za liberálnu. To je hlavný ciel výskumu, vedľajším cieľom je zmapovať vznik a vývoj strany, mimo iné objasniť prechod z regionálnej na celoštátnu politickú stranu. V teoretickej časti sa práca venuje teórii rodín politických strán a zadefinovaniu liberálnej rodiny, pričom za kritérium kategorizácie je zvolená ideológia a program. Analytická časť je rozdelená na dve časti: Analýzu základných programových a hodnotových dokumentov. Druhou časťou je analýza politickej komunikácie strany, témam ktoré komunikovala a tomu, ako sa menil obsah a dôraz na danú tému. Kategorizácia do rodiny politických strán je vedená v dvoch rovinách: Prvou je sebaidentifikácia strany, teda to, ako sa sama ideologicky zadefinovala. Druhou je prirovnanie hodnotových východísk pri tvorbe politík a komunikácie v niektorých konkrétnych otázkach k tomu, k čomu sa liberálne strany hlásili historicky a dnes.
