Jde o pacienty, kteří trvale žijí v Domově svatého Josefa v Žirči. Byli vybrá- ni pacienti s chronicko-progresivním stádiem onemocnění, kteří byli ochotni o svém životě vyprávět a popsat celý průběh onemocnění. Celkem šlo o pět pacientů - čtyři muže a jednu ženu (věk 50-80 let). V teoretické části je popsána historie roztroušené sklerózy, etiologie této nemoci, dia- gnostika, průběh nemoci a léčba. Jsou připomenuty instituce, které pacientům pomáhají: do- mácí péče, sociální služby, zařízení sociální péče, organizace podporující pacienty s daným onemocněním. Je rozebrán pojem kvality života obecně, kvalita života související se zdravím a nemocí i dosavadní výzkumy kvality života u pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou. These selected patients permanently live at the Domov sv. Josefa in the village of Zirec. For the purpose of this study only the patients at the chronic progressive stage of the disease and who were willing to talk about their life and to describe the whole progress of the illness were selected. The patients were four men and one woman (ages 50 to 80). The first theoretical part of the study describes the history of multiple sclerosis, etiolo- gy of the disease, diagnosis, progress of the illness and its treatment.
